So... who's done the school run in pyjamas?

I used to drop mine off at the station at 5.30 am - 20 mins drive and I never wore my PJs. Don't you feel a bit vulnerable (I mean if the car broke down or something and you were cold etc)
I just changed into a trackie - 30 seconds .Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
Good for you Lisa Wood !0

But why would you want to?
Presumably your OH gets up, shaves, showers, maybe has a coffee etc.
Do you slob in bed until he gets to the front door and shouts ' Honey, we need to go' at which point you throw back the bedclothes & say 'OK, I'm ready'?
I think you've answered your own question there! The second part sounds like a perfectly good reason to me...
I get up at 5.30 when I work days, if I had to get up that early just to drop somebody off without leaving the car, well, your description sounds lovely!0 -
Wearing Pjs in full view at school run, school meetings etc. is a counter culture "up yours" to the majority of people imv.
What ninnies they are!
Anyway it just seems to me (snob that I might be!) that they care little for their own self respect or the example they are giving to their children.
A big finger and a couldn't care less attitude, and what are you looking at kind of approach.
I don't like it. That Head Teacher was dead right. She cannot dictate what people should wear, but her sentiments were spot on regarding role models for the kids at her school.
Some parent will always be donkeys. That head does not want the children in her school to follow that lead. I applaud her for that.
Pjs are for bed. How difficult is it to even wear pjs that are neutral coloured and look kind of like normal daytime attire if that is your choice?
Ah no, that would be conforming and giving good example. Let's wear penguins/pink fluffies/uggs/slippers and a dressing gown. We'll show 'er!
Sad to me. The poor kids of these pj wearers. I hope they are not bullied.0 -

I have different clothes for different things.
I get up, put on my past-their-best leggings, tshirt & jumper.
That's for slobbing in the house, cooking & cleaning.
When I go out (and I don't mean 'out of the house') I wear dresses or maybe dressier leggings/jeggings & boots.
When I come home, I change into leggings & tops which are in the between stage of the top 2.
Maybe I don't understand the obsession with slobbing (although I believe M&S would refer to it as 'lounging' :rotfl:) in pyjamas all day because I don't possess any pyjamas and haven't done for 50 years.
But I would never even just pop to the shops in my 'scruffy', round-the-house clothes. I would get changed first.0 -
I'm a scruff now I work from home - I spent years of wearing "office attire" so I really enjoy leaving the heels in the wardrobe and some of my lounging wear might be not far off PJs but I wouldn't wear anything that looked like PJs even to run to the corner shop (literally a minute away) for a pint of milk. I might chuck a pair of boots and a jacket over a pair of plain PJs that look more like yoga pants for an early morning dash if OH has drunk the last of the milk after a night shift rather than start work on an early shift without coffee - but to go somewhere where I'd be standing outside talking to other people like the school playground - absolutely no way !!
I do think PJs in public have become a fashion statement in a kind of TOWIE way so it's essentially a fad and will soon disappear again
Most school gates have always had parents whose fashion choices cause the majority of parents to roll their eyes or giggle - This is no different - and these twits are getting far more attention than they deserve.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

We don't have children, so the occasion has never arisen when I would need to do a school run in pj's.
However, when I had my horses I would go down to the stables in my nightie with a coat over the top and waterproof boots on to feed them early on weekend mornings whilst brewing a cup of tea for myself and husband. Sometimes I would skip them out quickly as well, so their boxes stayed a bit cleaner. The reason I wore a coat was because the horses were stabled at night during the winter and it was jolly cold; if I'd gone outside in just my nightie and dressing gown I would have got hyperthermia!A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.0 -
No I wouldn't ever go out in my nightwear, and I think it does show a lack of respect for yourself. It also shows that you're quite lazy. The Headteacher is right.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
