Orininal purchase fall through after 15 weeks with 3 days to exchange (Vendor nightmare).

New purchase has been going nearly 2 weeks - hoping for 8-12 weeks but could be less as both sides are motivated and prepared well ;-)

This is my first house-purchase so it's been a steep learning curve. It will be what it is - stressing over it didn't help the first time so I'm (hopefully) a bit more zen about this one.

I'm under no pressure to move (and no chain) so that helps.
  • Not even going in to detail but it's a f**** nightmare.........

I've had problem after problem and had to cancel one sale because the survey on the house was abysmal. This one we put an offer in 3rd week in January and are still waiting for searches to be done.... not long compared to the others but seriously frustrating.

Let's just hope our '1st' one was just getting all the bad luck out of the way eh ;-)

    Hope it goes smoothly
  • My wife and I are buying together and selling our individual (leasehold) flats, coincidentally both to BTL investors who are desperate to complete before 31st March. The ball started rolling on one sale and the purchase in Jan, but the 2nd didn't start until this week.

Clearly all parties are willing, but there are so many variables and moving parts the chances of it all coming off before 31st March are slim to none, but obviously we've got to try, if it all happens it will be a miracle though!
  • We put in an offer in the house on Jan 11th, exchanged yesterday and complete this Friday.

Key for us was the mortgage broker had worked with the solicitors in previous cases and they together, moved the process at the speed of light
  • A quick update, we are meant to be exchanging today. But I wont hold my breath.

    Wish us luck!

    Good Luck ! :D
  • 4 months - pulled out due to not being able to renegotiate price after survey
2 months - seller pulled out for unknown reasons
5 months - divorcing couple pulled out (one wanted to sell one didnt)
2 months - found a seller whos buyer had pulled out and was packed up ready to move and the above chain was waiting for them.

13 months in total + a couple of months between for looking, but the one that went through only took 2!
  • We have exchanged today and are completing tomorrow, which will be exactly 8 weeks to the day since we put the offer in.
  • We offered at the end of October and we are close to exchanging contracts... however... still not sure of completion date or exchange of contract date!...

    Does feel like forever!!
