Kettle's boil water and toasters toast bread, not a lot of scope for variation of function. If I go into Halfords, I can test any of their car stereos, as they have them on the wall. If not, Halfords will get one out of a box and show me how it works, before I buy.

Argos offer a "no quibble" returns service.

Almost every decent reputable retailer will do just that.

Yes, quite serious. Do they simply explain what the functionality is, do they demo it or do they let you install into your car and let you have a play yourself?

Don't forget we trying to ascertain whether the OP has gone beyond the sort of handling he could have done in a shop.

They take it out of the box, plug it into the array, with the other stereos and demonstrate how it works.
