The item is now secondhand and cannot be resold as new, regardless of condition. I wonder how the OP would react if he did negotiate a replacement, and they offered him one that had already been installed in someone else's car 'but only for 8 days sir!'?No free lunch, and no free laptop

And it seems that you should be a little more polite. As well as reading more carefully.12) For the purposes of paragraph (9) handling is beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods if, in particular, it goes beyond the sort of handling that might reasonably be allowed in a shop.
It is quite reasonable to ask for a demonstration of car stereo, in a shop. In fact, most retailers of this type of equipment have them already installed on panels in the shop.0 -
But as I said in post#8 "Fitting the thing in your car is clearly beyond the sort of handling that might reasonably be allowed in a shop."Nessun_Dorma wrote: »It is quite reasonable to ask for a demonstration of car stereo, in a shop. As someone who works in retail under the op's circumstances he would not be given a refund , once any goods have been fitted that's it !
OP would a glance at the instructions/specs not have given you an idea of the features without the need to fit it ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
