Morning all :hello:
I'm visiting the parentals this weekend. Couldn't really sleep even though I'm v tired - think just being a different bed. Thought I may as well get up and do a bit online rather than lying in bed tossing and turning.
Here's me:- Filled up at supermarket petrol station - still sub £1 :T
- Got OH's bday pressie sorted - new jumper for £13.50 - down from £45.
- Got a lift from a pal rather than a taxi. :A
- Helping mum check energy tariffs - she has never thought to change ever!
- Not stopping at service stations on the motorway if I can help it
- Teaching tonight
- Sorting YNAB for money inflows
- Buying tyre tread gauge as we're pretty close to needing new ones - have told OH we should switch the front and back ones round now as the back ones are still fine. Then they'll wear out about the same time but I guess it's all the same really - whether we get 2 at a time or 4 later.... :think:

Morning all. Loving the batch cooking Bob
how satisfying. My list for today:
Make picnic for walk we are going on later, take some Dundee cake that is in freezer to use it up, going to explore somewhere on our doorstep where we have never been
Get as ready as I can for week ahead, quick tidy through, iron school clothes, meal plan
One thing from January list
Run for free exercise
Maybe list a few bits on local faceb00k for sale
Have a good day everyone, will check back later J0 -
Morning all
Went to bed early last night as I wasn't feeling great, so up early this morning
Already fed dog and hens and had breakfast (used up some bits in the fridge for that)
It feels warm again here this morning (though murky). Strange weather this winter, though I guess we should be grateful we haven't got the dreadful conditions they have in the US :eek: I remember visiting DC in February one year for work though, and the snow seemed to be as high as me, so I imagine they are fairly well geared up for it.
List for today:
Check banks
Dog walks x 2
HM meals from stores, pork chops bought on offer for dinner and the soup I made yesterday for lunch
Aiming for zero spends today
'Do something' with gifted HM chorizos as it is too warm now to leave them hanging up in the conservatory :eek:
Housework - so I don't have it all to do tomorrow
Any surveys, FPL etc
Prepare RM survey tasks for the coming week
Right, better get ready for first dog walk - hope everyone enjoys their Sunday0 -
Morning all!
Just catching up on here whilst OH is still in bed and trying to work out what quiet tasks I can do so I don't wake him!
This weekend I have/will:-
* Do free parkrun and park for free
* Pop into town whilst in the area
* Buy brother's gf a birthday card - was going to re-gift a book I was given but the person who gave it to me wrote me name in it! Hmmm, need to have a e think!
* Pay money into bank
* Paint under stairs cupboard using paint we already have
* Paint the knots on the door linings using stuff we already have
* Sort out what will be the downstairs toilet and put stuff away in attic
* Sort out bags for charity shop
* Investigate leak in attic
* Shop within budget
* Dinner from stores
* Wash hair and let dry naturally
Ok that was all yesterday - feel happy that things are finally moving with the decorating as we've both been a bit lazy recently!
Today's list:-
* Check banks
* Check FPL
* Make cookies to take to mums
* Lunch at mums and aim to eat as much as possible so only need a small dinner!
* Paint understairs cupboard again using paint we already have
* Find wd40 and put on bathroom door to stop the squeak (on the annoying job list!)
* Do a couple of loads of washing on eco wash (we had run out of washing powder so it's stacked up!)
* Make lasagne for dinner tomorrow and hopefully one for the freezer
* Hang mirror and picture (ok this be one for OH as not sure it would be straight/stay up if I did it!)
* Dinner from stores
Think that's everything for today. Hope you're all having a good weekend.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Morning all
Didn't get back on last night to update - decided that I had better do some of the work stuff instead and then relaxed in front of the telly for a bit. I was tired and in a right grump so probably for the bestcrazy_cat_lady wrote: »

So still a couple of things to do today. If I want to do a whole month of food shopping once payday lands then I really need to sit down and plan. I'll have to see if I have time.
I had a bit of a long lie this morning, longer than intended, but I'm not stressing it. Here's today's list:
:idea: little PAD to Christmas fund
:idea: 2 hours of tutoring today :money:
:idea: put unexpected tutoring money straight into holiday fund
:idea: plan very frugal meals for next week using only what's in the freezer and cupboards
:idea: get the kids to do something round the house
:idea: finish the marking I have
:idea: exercise
:idea: nsd
Think that's it. Still another 3 weeks till half term
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

*sneaks back in sheepishly....*
HELLO LADIES AND GENTS!!!!
I know, I know it's been a while, probably a couple of years to be precise.... Having had a gentle reminder via facebook from Christine to come say hi I have eventually hopped back on the wagon
So hi everyone!
I have been keeping up to date with most people via the Facebook page but as a result have almost forgotten who is who on usernames, as I am now so used to seeing people's real names :rotfl:
So the past couple of years haven't been very MSE for me, last year alone we undertook a £42k loft conversation (1/2 paid for by savings, 1/2 added to mortgage :eek:) which is ALMOST complete and signed off, although it left the rest of the house in a bit of a state which we are still picking up the pieces from.
I am also pregnant with my second child (mine and hubby's first, I have an 8 year old daughter from previous relationship that lives with us). Due in March so really starting to feel the weight of it now!
So last year in May I left my extremely well paid local job to take a same salary job (but higher positioned job) 33 miles away. Although due to the difference in contract the company car tax and fuel benefit tax made sure I didn't bring home as much money at the end of the month :mad::mad::mad: Despite almost two years of trying for a second baby with no luck I found out a month and a half into starting this new job that I was pregnant with my second child (great timing!) I didn't think it would be an issue with the commute etc at I had no sickness with my first child.....boy was I wrong!!!!
After almost 4 months of throwing up in my car on the way to work, having to be driven home due to crippling headaches and generally letting my new team down because I was always off I had a call from my previous work place asking me to come back. The position was higher than I had left originally, salary was higher, a mile away from home and they knew I was 4 months pregnant! In their words "the pros outweigh the cons".:D:D
So I pretty much landed on my feet with that one.
So in a nut shell, that was my 2015! I will be getting back onto the wagon and posting (hopefully) every day to get focussed again. My husband and I are taking advantage of the shared parental leave that was introduced last year, so when this baby is born I will have a few weeks off (fully paid despite not being "officially" entitled to anything, this was negotiated as part of my return package) and hubby will have 3 months off to look after the baby. Works out better for us financially, plus mentally for me I think it is the better way forward following my experiences after having my first.
I look forward to catching up with you all :cool:Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
Today - The temperature has gone up to 12 deg c here so thermostat back down to 10 deg, all 5 radiators back down to the frost setting and side window open for ventilation.
Lights off, curtains open in the lounge and everyone (cats and OH) having a quiet lazy day so far.0 -
