How to get a refund on prescription glasses from local opticians?

I will be driving (in my contact lenses!!!!) for next hour so won't be online, but would still be grateful for any posts that might help when I log back in later.0

I don't see you have a case
The frames are the frames you chose and the lenses are to your prescription, sounds like you need varifocals but didn't want them so ended up with the stronger lenses as requested.
IMO the optician offering to weaken the lense is your only option.0 -
I don't understand, a prescription is a prescription made to precise numbers and letters etc
Weak, Strong..... what do you actually mean.
I wonder if they would still give you that 'swimming' feeling if they had MK on the side.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I disagree with the other posters, the fact that the optician has now confirmed that the stronger prescription is causing the problem to me means that they have not properly prescribed - their professional knowledge should have led them to advise you that this might happen. Because they didn't I think you do have a good case for a full refund, and if they won't give it I think you could make a S75 claim from your card issuer (your bank rather than Mastercard).0

Did you have a proper subjective refraction test, with lots of lenses switched in and out from in front of your eyes?0

But that isn't fair to me is it? The frames are not the frames I chose because I thought they were a different brand, and I said I didn't want varifocals so they should have told me I was probably ok with what I've got instead of selling me lenses which I cannot use or then letting me find out I cannot use them an offering me a replacement similar to what I already have?0

I don't see it that way, the frames are the frames you chose.0 -
Thank you Aggrinall, you seem to understand at least. this does feel like a huge grey area and I genuinely feel like I've been unfairly denied a refund
but all the replies are interesting and I wonder if this is something many others have fallen foul of. still not sure exactly what to do however

So if there were some Aldi frames in the MK display and I bought them thinking they were MK would you say the same thing?0

Lorian - yes I had the full works of tests, it is simply that I said I didn't want varifocals so they sold me stronger distance instead and I didn't appreciate that would mean the near sight would be swimming0
