February 2016 Grocery Challenge

Hi all,
Managed 3 NSDs over the past week but spent £90.58!
This was entirely down to poor planning and laziness on my part. OH works quite long hours so I generally cook evening meals and prepare lunches for the next day but had yet another "don't fancy what we have in" day on Friday and got a takeaway and then went to Mr. T's yesterday and went completely off list, spending in the region of £40 more than I had anticipated.
Will be sitting down and meal planning for the week ahead a little later. Definitely looking forward to Pancakes on Tuesday!
Hope you're all keeping warm and have a fantastic week!January Food Budget: £0/ £500

Had an NSD yesterday as the weather was miserable and the eldest 2 boys had birthday parties to attend in the afternoon.
Today spent £8.28 at Mr M's on sandwiches and a pasta pot for lunch as we were out and didn't have time this morning to make anything to take with us. Need to stop doing that as it's a significant amount of money from our budget.Grocery Challenge 2024

£64.41 spent so far this month - most on a supermarket shop, £20 on various meat and veg from the local market and a few bits and pieces here and there. I've got another online order coming tomorrow which will take us up to about the halfway point of the budget, but should last us until at least the weekend.Savings target: £25000/£25000

I meal planned this morning so was pleased with my weekly spend of £35.38 and that included £6 on a large pack of chicken breasts.
Made a cake tonight. I had brown bananas in the fruit bowl, and chocolate and walnuts that needed using up. Had a slice before bed and oh my goodness it was delicious! The good (actually probably not so good) news is that I am the only one in the house who likes walnuts! Lol! So more for me to eat!
I also took the leftover meat off the chicken tonight and plan to make a chicken pie with it tomorrow!Grocery challenge- feb 2015- £133.07/£2500 -
Evening all,
I've been pretty missing all week one way or another and this has reflected on how my budget has gone (or rather how to flew out of the window with a chance it was never to be seen again).
However, instead, I've decided to draw a line under it and to recap as best I can.
Part of the issue has been due to cash .. that is, DH took out a bundle last weekend and then ended up with someone else giving him some cash as part of settling a meal bill ... which has meant accountability has been harder, due to no receipts.
That and I have frankly not been in the mood to cook ... has meant our week looks like this:
01/02 – cooked
02/02 – Chinese
03/02 - Curry
04/02 – cooked
05/02 – Chinese
06/02 – cooked
07/02 – cooked
So, current totals for February look like this:
£210.38/£615 (Groceries: £97.73/£350, Takeaway: £94.20/£140, Eating Out: £18.45/£125)
The £45 to last on takeouts for the next 3 weeks is rather a laugh, pretty sure I will not achieve sticking within that budget. With half term rapidly approaching, suspect the eating out is going to go up ... which means, I shall once again have to focus on the groceries!
So, we have Chinese NY on Monday, pancake day on Tuesday and Valentines on Sunday ...
And I have no menu plan
Mon -
Tues - pancakes
Wed -
Thurs -
Fri -
Sat -
Sun - steak (well, it's a partial plan!)
Now, time to go back and read how everyone elses week has fared (hopefully betten than mine!)GC - March 2024 -0 -
My second top up shop of the week, yesterday. I spent £15.73. It seems that no matter how much I buy, boys will eat it within a day or two.£1000 Emergency Fund #175 - £598/£1000
