Milann's life keeps getting in the way.......

Well where has time gone. I was working until Friday and the bank holiday came and went in a flash - we spent a couple of lazy days pottering around the house and doing bits in the garden.....1 handed gardening isn't recommended especially in the heat of the day. I'm still doing my little patch in the front. I'm currently washing the old slate chippings a few at a time in a bucket that were previously used for mulch. There's a right mound now I've gathered them together that over the years have collected hedge cuttings and soil between the slate and the weeds were just growing in it - so I''m getting the garbage out and putting the slate back over new weed suppressant.. I'd ordered 50 lavender bushes on t'internet - they were half the price of the garden centre and i expected them to be small -BUT when they arrived they were root bound, mouldy and dead....i was doing my best Queen Victoria impression and I was not amused. Anyway they are sending me more out when I come back from the Lakes....these ones had better be alive or I shall be back n the phone complaining.
Yesterday we went to a tall ship day at Liverpool - had a lovely day and the boats were very majestic sailing along the Mersey. It was heaving but we managed to get a good spot to watch.
I've had some spends but nothing too dangerous. And I'm doing ok with SW so all is well in Milann's world - lol apart from a dodgy arm and mouldy lavenders of courseJanuary spends - £587.581 -
Replying on your thread for places for good walks but good for everyone. Tarn Hows , Grizedale Forest , Aira Force . Well worth the climb Orrest Head amazing views , Biskey Howe viewpoint , these are both in Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere .Park in Coniston village and walk to the Blue bird cafe on the waters edge. If you are a member of NT always useful in Lakes .
These are some of my favourite places to be , have a google .
Sorry state your Lavender was in , so glad you complained . Take care of the arm. Enjoy your break when it comes .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1 -

I went to see my brother yesterday who lives on the opposite side of the big city not far from me. I don't do motorways and its about a 50 minute drive if I drive there on 'roads' in busy town traffic - too much for my arm at the moment - so I drove to my nearest tram station, bought a day ticket and he picked me up at the opposite end. I had a lovely day as his grandkids were there. I got him to drop me off at tram station on my way home at 3 pm so my off peak ticket was valid.
I had the whim to get off the tram in big city as we were passing through - walked around the Arndale and into M&$ - WHAT was I thinking:o:eek::o:eek: I had a whale of a time - treated myself to tea out, bought new clothes, some treats for the grandkids - and there was me bragging I hadn't spent much in my last post....ah well that ship has sailed now. The thing is I had to kill about 3 hours before I could use my off peak ticket again on the tram.....lol lol so much for a cheap ticket :money::money: Not sure if I can pay my cc in full as I'd already bought my car insurance and gym membership. Shall see what I can do.....ill pay what I can - enjoy my week in the Lakes next week and pay it over 2 months if needs must. I need to give myself a kick up the behind me thinks or I'll spiral out of control.
Went to the gym on my way home too - cycle and treadmill - burned 250 calories - good by my standards so I'm aiming to do that 2/3 times a week to build my muscles a bit.
Went to SW this morning and lost 1 1/2lb - I was happy enough with that.
Right oh off to wash some more slate to put back in my front garden.January spends - £587.580 -

We had an amazing week in the Lakes - the sun shone most days and when it didn't we were glad of the shade. The caravan was a complete freebie to us - a good friend whom I've made her wedding cake and her sons 18th and 21st cake so we help each other out. That said I still managed to spend a fortune - we had some nice meals out.
Cumbria Lass I'd read your recommendations before I went and had intended looking again once there. LOL - I'm such a townie that I'd forgotten about the rubbish reception up there and couldn't log in....but we went to some of the places you mentioned. We had a lovely walk from village along Conniston, an evening boat trip on Windermere, a train ride on Ratty railway at Ravenglass, a walk in Grange over Sands followed by a trip to Lakeland model village which gave me a lot of inspiration for making buildings for our garden railway. We spent a day sailing Ulswater and then the shortest walk to Aira Force. My son joined us for a day. We had a couple of trips to NT places - Fell Foot which was close to where we stayed and Seizugh (sp) which had amazing rock gardens. Then on the way home we went to Morcambe.
We came home a day early as my sil had to have a procedure done at hospital - at first I was slightly resentful about coming home as the weather was so good but we couldn't have left her to her own devices - as it happens it's a good job we came home as I had a letter waiting for me to go for the MRI scan I'd been waiting for and it was for today. So dh took his sister in the car and I went on the tram - all to the same hospital in Salford but at different times and departments....and she needed someone with her whereas I actually prefer to be on my own - I was in the scan room 55 minutes so dh would have been hanging around. On my way home I popped into an outlet village on the tram route and bought a lovely per una top for half price at £8....but the spending has to STOP - so does the snacking and eating out.
My cc statement came and as expected I'll probably need to pay in 2 bits. I've renewed my gym membership and got them to put it on hold until Monday. I've bought a 12 week countdown at SW starting this week.......So back on track tomorrow.
The kids are treating us to a long weekend for our 40th anniversary and birthdays this year - it'll be mid August. I've no idea where but do know it has a hot tub so I want to feel happier in a cossie than I do at the moment. I want at least a stone preferably nearer 2 by September when I go into another decade.....January spends - £587.581 -
Glad you had a fab time.
It is all to easy to let too much eating out creap in.
