I think you have a really good balance there , with having school holidays off, although holidays would be more expensive , but you and DH will get time together .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

That is a very sore subject Beanie - if things had stayed as they were I'd have finished in September at 60 then it changed so I have 6 years come September - NOT happy about that at all - it's going to be a long 6 years....
Pleased to say I've managed to control both spending and eating this week - I'm hoping it'll show on the scales on Thursday. My unexpected spend (I didn't begrudge it) was for a fundraising page for a little girl from school - a beautiful 6 year old with an aggressive brain tumor which has spread to her spine - the outlook isn't good and she is a gorgeous natured little girl. Life just isn't fair sometimes...
We went out at weekend to a lovely restaurant courtesy of ds for Father's Day ( I tagged along too) it was Vietnamese and I was really pleased - I had a noodle and brisket broth - you got a dish of herbs to add to it as you fancied. No idea how many syns in it but there can't have been many. Much better than the usual something with chips I choose.
I haven't been to the gym this week as I've been really tired. I did a lot of 1 handed gardening planting my replacement lavenders on Sunday - I did too much and my arm has been waking me at night. This little and often malarkey is wearing a bit thin - but I need to remember. I'll try to go to the gym or a swim tomorrow.January spends - £587.580 -
That's not good Milan.
One of my friends was 60 last week & she is the same.

Life is indeed cruel at times Beanie - I wouldn't wish any child to be ill but this little one is a gem, she is kind with a quiet sense of humour and tries really hard at everything with big brown eyes and curls to match - she is the inspiration to keep her family going.
A couple of no spend days here so feeling a little happier and in control. Still not been to the gym or swim - I came home and nodded off in the chair...January spends - £587.581 -
I know of a family like you describe, the children have a hereditary disease which is quite sad. The children are both so lovely but not expected to live past their 12th birthdays.
Same here for the gym and swimming , too tired. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1 -
So sad CL - in my experiences working in schools and nurseries the children cope far better than their parents.
As you said in your last posts though CL, I have a great combination of hours and I love my job on the whole so hopefully the 6 years won't be too bad - I just feel hard done byJanuary spends - £587.581 -
Feeling chuffed
:money: I didn't think I'd be able to pay my cc in full this month as it had my car insurance and gym membership in the same month plus spending of a week away BUT after much deliberation after number crunching and tightening the belt a notch or so - I did it. :money::money::money: next month will be a very tight one but I kept my promise to myself of paying it in full every month.
Having said that I've had a bit of a financial scare that'll have to go on my cc. I ordered a special gift which I know dh should love back in January - I know the ballpark off the cost  but it's a limited edition and was expecting it nearer the back end of the year and been budgeting accordingly - I had a text saying it's now ready so am just about to phone up and scare myself silly. It's much more than I'd usually pay but it's for our wedding anniversary and his 65th birthday combined - better go and see what the damage is......January spends - £587.581 -
Good news on the CC :j
