It’s actually needed plastering since we moved in over 30 years ago. It has an old textured plaster on and we have covered it with various vinyls since....my dd had it painted dark purple in her teenage years and it was easier to strip and re paper than use about 5 coats of paint to cover it😂😳, but this  last paper wasn’t as thick as the previous and the bumps showed through. Dh uses the room these days for a bit of a hobby room and there’s a bed settee which pulls out when dd and sil come to stay. I just want my house back to some kind of order again. All sorts were put upstairs when we knocked walls down downstairs. So seems the perfect time to have a mega sort out once and for all 😳👍

When you have a room replastered how nice is it to stroke the smooth newly plastered walls 🤣 We have almost, but not quite, covered all of the old artex with replastering. We will get there 👍
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

This stuff on our walls pre dates the artex 😂😂😂 it’s the really old fashioned plaster think it’s from 1930 when they built the house 😂😂😂 I know I really should have it replastered but I’ve had enough and want a quick fix. We’ve stripped a bit more of the walls this morning and now having a rest. Again I did the easy bit 👍

So my target this next week is to get in touch with the pension people and see where I stand. I’ve been in ostrich mode for too long..... basically since they moved everything online. Thursday when dh is around and we can look at them together 👍 seems like a plan to me. Then I’m presuming I’ll need to top it up. The worse thing I ever did was change jobs from an LEA school to a private nursery without a pension scheme for 10 years but I can’t do anything to change it so it’s not worth worrying about now.
The room is now stripped.....but I can’t find any soft sheen paint anywhere. We’re waiting until after tea and nipping the The Range in town a 5 minute drive away to see if they have any. It should be quieter by then. The webpage says they stock it but don’t give give quantities in stock and it’s in store only - no deliveries.  They say they have it at the Dulux decorating centre but it’s £40 for a 5 litre pot....it’s less than £20 at B&M and The Range.....but no good if they haven’t actually got any. If they haven’t got any it’ll be vinyl silk. I refuse to pay double at Dulux Decorating Centre.

All to all your talk of decorating is making me itchy about my own home milann. My living room and hall could do with sprucing up - though it's going to be left till I retire in the spring and we come out of lockdown.
Good idea to get in touch with the pension people and see where you are - time flies so quickly - you'll be retired before you know it!

I know  - time passes quickly when your having fun SSG😂😂😂
That back bedroom hasn’t been touched since dd went to uni at 18....she is 40 next time around. I hadn’t realised it was quite that long....😱🤭 I knew it was a long time but that is scary 😏
We couldn’t get the soft sheen paint we wanted. I’ve got a bit left from when we did the kitchen so will see if painter thinks it’s enough when he comes tomorrow. If it isn’t it can be done in vinyl silk. We ordered some new curtains from Dunelm and dd went to collect them a colour called chambray....a pale bluey/grey shade. I’d picked some samples of wallpaper last week before we decided to paint it. The curtains go beautifully with one sample of tall branches with little silver birds on....so change of plan and we’re having a feature wall in this paper - the other 3 walls white. I’m quite excited to see it finished 😂😂😂if dh fills it with all the “useful items” 😂😂😂😂 he’s taken out of there - I might not be responsible for my actions. There will be a cull of that room.....yet to be decided if will be the junk or dh 😂😂😂

No idea what got into me last night. I ached all around my middle and couldn’t get comfy and even found it difficult to toss and turn. I watched the clock go around and saw 4 o’clock. I think I must have done too much over the last couple of days...even though I didn’t actually do that much and rested. Should have left the stripping to the decorator. I’ve not had a night like that for a long time.
Decorator is here he thinks we might have enough paint to do the 3 walls.
Dh has put some lights in my new units this morning. We’ve had them on order for a while and they have finally arrived. He isn’t in work today - he has been furloughed.
He nipped to get a couple of rolls of the wallpaper we liked. It was £16 a roll when I picked the samples up last week. Bonus - reduced to £8 but the only had a few rolls left - all with different codes. We only needed 2 rolls as it’s a small room - we might even manage with just 1 roll depending on the pattern - he managed to find just 2 with the same code 👍👍
