So I’ve parted with a fair bit of cash from my savings over the last 2 days to the builder, but I’m pleased I had access to it. It should pay for itself over time and make life easier all round. No loan or credit card has been needed.
It’s been a tad noisy today as they’ve been knocking plaster off and we’ve had no electricity or t’internet for a couple of hours. I retreated upstairs and even got under the covers - reading my book.....a couple of hours later and after I’d read the same line over and over...the builder woke me up 😴😴😴  I was well away. Tomorrow the wall between the dining room and kitchen is coming down. So another noisy messy day. Dh is off though so after the nurse has been we might go out for dinner.....we might both retreat upstairs with a box set though. We’ll see how we feel.
Not much else to report other than some positive thoughts.....
    - I’m pleased I have a fairly laid back attitude to dust and it will all be sorted at the end of the job 😏 no point getting stressed about it.....
    - got a lovely dh who is still looking after me really well 🥰
    - a scribble picture from my littlest granddaughter of ‘mountains’ she folded it and stuffed the envelope herself with instructions for mummy to ‘put a stamp on cos Grandma needed it 😂😂😂😂😍’ Mummy got dragged to the postbox 😂😂😂

Building works are always a drag @milann - especially if you're around the house all day when it's going on!😱. You'll love it when it's all finished though!
Hope you and DH feel up to going out tomorrow - a change of (non-dusty) scene will be good!😀
Your 'mountains' picture sounds great - how sweet of littlest GD!💕

It will be worth it when it’s done. When I had my new kitchen, bathroom and central heating system 3 years ago the dust was horrendous 😱 but definitely the best thing I’ve ever done. Still find odd bits of dust from time to time though. Aw how sweet of GDD 💕

  • It's very sensible of you to ignore the dust as let's face it it will return on a daily basis until the builders have finished. You're amazing coping with recovering from a serious op and having builders in. It will look lovely when it's finished though :).

It’s a bit like deja vu -  when I was recovering in 2006 and I was much worse than this time - we had an extension. It really gave me something to focus on. Once the wall has come down and the wall between the bathroom and kitchen has gone up - I should be able to look at some kitchens and start planning 👍😀
It’s  been quite noisy today - a wall has been partly taken down and steels have gone up. I went out with dh at lunch time. I went to my local JLewis and bought some Lego for my gks birthday next month and a birthday card for my dd next week. It’ll be the last year of her 30s - not sure how that happened. I must get it in the post  before weekend. We didn’t look at anything else - walked through the cards en route to the toys and straight out again. We went to Wsp00ns in the lull between dinner and tea- it was very quiet and they’d put booths up. I had a gorgeous steak and chips with a cheeky rose wine 🍷 Then we came home and have retreated to the bedroom as there are rather a lot of dust sheets downstairs and I was completely washed out......The worst of the mess should be over this week - famous last words 😂😂😂 hope they don’t come to bite me on the behind 😂😂
Dh has been home today - he can’t cope with not being able to do much and not knowing where things are.......as the workmen are about. I’ve suggested a walk at a social distance with one of his friends tomorrow as he will drive me to distraction 😳😳 he is looking after me so well I’m feeling a tad smothered. I do sound very ungrateful and I’m not really........

Our house renovations hit their lowest point the night we only had a toilet in the bathroom and a bucket to flush it. Thankfully only one night. We were also reduced to washing ourselves in a washing up bowl with a flannel and only being able to eat things that could be cooked in the microwave. We survived and it was well worth it in the end.

Good idea to get DH out of the house tomorrow to allow you some time to yourself.

Rebecca is coming to Netflix soon 👍 That’s if you like Daphne de Maurier. Rebecca is one of my absolute favourites of all time. Some good spooky ones coming soon too in time for Halloween 🎃
I love the Book and can't wait for Rebecca to arrive on Netflix 😊

Lol SA you’ve just reminded me of when we did our bathroom 4 years ago. I bought a big builders bucket and sat in it for my bath in my living room - dh said I wouldn’t fit- but with a few contortions I did manage to sit crossed legged with a jug 😂😂😂😂😂 the builders wife went into labour and was very poorly so we were without a bath/shower for a week as he looked after his 3 year old😱😂😂 but we got there in the end. Funnily enough most of the nurses coming out have admired the bathroom - it’s tiny but I think we’ve made good use of the space.

How exciting to get the building work underway, it will be worth it when it's finished. My friend has just had a new kitchen and I went to see it on Tuesday,it looks lovely and I'm really jealous 😀

Another lazy day here. My energy has well and truly got up and gone.....but I suppose it’s to be expected as it is working hard to repair itself. I’ve put it through a lot these last few weeks.
I stayed in or on my bed for the best part of today again. Just a quick trip to Wsp00ns at dinner time for fish and chips. Then I threw dh out for a socially distanced walk with his friend. I can’t get through to him that he still needs to do things for him and not just be at my beck and call. I didn’t think he was going to go - but I’m pleased he did. Now when he come back we can talk about something other than the virus, restrictions or hospitals. Because we’ve had dinner out we can have a bit of salad and cold meat to save messing in the kitchen.
    positive thoughts for today
I found it slightly easier getting out of the bath
fish and chips - just what I fancied
the builder finished at 3 pm ( although he’s coming at 8 am tomorrow 😱)
