Good and Bad Buys from Aldi & Lidl *Do NOT Expire Please*

The only thing I've not liked in Aldi was pickled red cabbage as it wasn't crisp and crunchy the way I like it. I could have just been unlucky with a batch but never bought it since.
Funny that because we do like the German/Polish style of red cabbage. Even DH will eat it and he hates red cabbage as a rule. Think it's because it's softer and sweeter then the English style0 -

Do you not have real bakers where you live? It's always a problem this time of year, flies and wasps.0 -
Trouble is Aldi is not really a full blown supermarket.
To be honest a lot of people use more flour during the winter period than the summer.
So that shelf space can be better used to sell a summer product which in financial terms will give a better return.
Which is what the selling business is all about.
Still nonsense...;) Lidl isn't a full supermarket either and they can stock it all year round. People who bake bread do that all year round! It's not a winter time hobby...If they were honest and called it shelf management - but SEASONAL :mad:First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

Don't worry - I gather the bread flours will be returning to Aldi in August.0 -
I have both Aldi and Lidl in my town. I heard that the owners are brothers? Both places sell similar products. I mainly use Lidl, purely because it is easier to park. I always buy Lidl sliced bread, as it is not only cheaper, but stays fresher for longer. In fact I do quite a large shop there every Wednesday. I have never found the vegetables not to be fresh. I buy a lettuce each week, that stays fresh for days, much cheaper than Tesco. I never use anything other than their own brand liquid wash - Formil super concentrated, in both colour and bio. I love their fresh chocolate mousses, the best I have ever tasted. However, I do take a special trip to Aldi for face cream - Lacura Expert both the day and night cream. These creams are wonderful, and so cheap.

The only thing I have ever had a problem with at both Lidl and Aldi is the bagged onions. I have tried several times, both white and red onions but there is always at least one manky one in the bag and loads of wastage from the others even if used the same day. I know I am not alone with this and really wish they would address it as I buy a lot of onions and it is a pest to have to go elsewhere when I can get most other things I need from these shops.0

Perhaps Lidl think it's a more profitable item to them.
Do agree, saying it's 'seasonal' is total BS!The more I live, the more I learn.
