Good and Bad Buys from Aldi & Lidl *Do NOT Expire Please*

Popped into a Lidl today - I don’t have one convenient for me but I was near one so thought I’d pop in. On the whole slightly more expensive than Aldi I thought, although there were some bargains (1kg extra lean mince is about £1 cheaper in Lidl). Couldn’t resist the bakery though - one thing Aldi lacks. Big full sized baguette was delicious (and 62p I think? Bargain!) but the jam doughnuts are awful! Too dry and “bready” if you get what I mean. And at 32p each more expensive than M&S!!! Also, is it just me, or do Lidl not rush you through the till as much as Aldi do?
Think I prefer Aldi. I’ll always have a nosey in a Lidl if I’m near one though.0 -
My friend whoo lives very close to a Lidl insisted that I try their tinned tomato soup.
Being a Heinz snob for many years, I was quite sceptical but we compared the list of ingredients in both tins and Lidl came out favourably.
Taste?
Well, I'll just say that I won't be buying Heinz anymore.
I don't have a Lidl close to me but there is an Aldi so I'll be trying that.0 -

Aldi Beetroot Burgers (fresh in a pack of two on the shelf, not frozen) I think are really really good0

Aldi Saxon quilted 4 ply toilet tissue is off my shopping list.
At least 4 rolls in the 9 pack have one ply misaligned.
And it sticks to the roll as you pull it.
I'll stick to the Tesco quilted that OH prefers.0 -
Lidl fruit were very disappointing today. The few that were reasonably priced were also on the turn.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
