Good and Bad Buys from Aldi & Lidl *Do NOT Expire Please*

I picked up a pack of 400g smoked ham trimmings today at Aldi, and wondered if it used to be 450g, but perhaps I'm wrong. It was the same price, £1.75, as previously.
On a happier note, Aldi have extended their sushi range to include duck and chicken. Four large pieces and three small ones for £1.69. They are absolutely lovely.
There were a lot of small price reductions as well, the Everyday Essentials clear honey down from 99p to 89p, for example. Crispbread down to 59p from 69p. Some of the reductions have been long term, the Danish loaf has been 39p for some time now.
I thought the yogurts seemed more expensive than they used to be, overall.
However, it's not all bad.
And echoing what Cornucopia said, you shouldn't automatically expect any brand names Aldi/Lidl stock to be cheaper.
Some are, a four-pack of Guinness Draught is £4.00 in Aldi, £4.50-£5.00 most other places.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Not a buy but more of an irritant in Lidl, they have moved to those larger baskets with wheels instead of the hand baskets and I find them far too cumbersome to use
Shame on you Lidl for ignoring the small basket shopper0 -
Aldi tops supermarket satisfaction survey. Aldi and Lidl have 12% of the market share between them

Lidl's Aberdcyle Scottish mature coloured cheddar is lovely. I bought it a while back as a XXL offer and would certainly buy again.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

the non coloured cheese is even tastieralthough having said that I do prefer the extra mature white cheddar, it's a bit crumblier but has that extra bite of taste to it.

Does anyone else's Lidl still sell the W5 Classic Dishwasher Tablets (not the all-in-one variety)?
I stocked up with a few boxes last time they were on offer, but I've now run out. Checked a few times and my store now only sell the more expensive all-in-one tablets (previously sold both).
Failing that, can anyone suggest any good cheap dishwasher tablets? Bought some from Poundworld and they're useless - everything comes out as dirty as when you put it in there!0 -

FWIW, Which? recently tested dishwasher tablets and although Fairy Platinum Original All in One did best at 86%, the Aldi Magnum All in One Complete weren't far off at 78%. The Lidl W5 All in One scored 71% but they didn't test any other Lidl product.
Best value, without a doubt - Aldi Magnum All in One Complete £3.29 for 40, though if I didn't have access to an Aldi I'd get the Lidl W5 All in One at the same price.
I doubt you'll find the best one (Fairy) at anywhere near these prices.0 -
I don't know if anyone watched Super Shoppers last week ? They showed the Aldi lunch selection of wraps and salad bowls and did a blind taste test. All the testers thought they were eating M & S foodYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

I'm not surprised. The Duck and Hoisin sauce wraps are gorgeous, the others looked good too. I think they were £1.79, just right for lunch. They are in the grab and go chiller, with the sushi, sandwiches, salad bowls and r.t.d. chilled coffee.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... If you're in a hard water area and prefer to use dishwasher salt as well as a tablet, Aldi's Classic works well and is as cheap as any I've seen. If you don't have an Aldi in your area, one recent test (I forget which) rated Morrison's tablets quite highly.0
