My tuppence on the custhelp/linksys.custhelp
custhelp is probably a third party who specialises in providing the Q&A/guided help systems to companies like Cisco (and probably do it a lot cheaper, and more reliably than in house directly on the linksys site), it probably was never intended to be accessed directly, but rather in a browser frame/pop up generated when you clicked a support link on the linksys site, or router - this is backed up by Four things.
1: Custhelp.com redirects to a site that basically says they are such a company (and a search of the site shows Linksys were/are using their service in 2005 at least).
2: linksys.custhelp.com has links directly to the Linksys site.
3: When you go to the linksys site and look under "technical support" it gives you a popup with the source being another external site or a similar support company (nohold.net).
4: Whilst it's true anyone can put a "©Cisco systems" on their site, it would be extremely silly for a company to try and pass itself off as such (legal reasons).
[edit]
The chances are that the reason the custhelp site still has Linksys information is that it's probably legacy support (not being updated), due to older router firmware/software being set to reference it (in a browser sub frame or popup).0 -

No because you are wrong! It IS the Linksys support site regardless of who hosts or publishes the information.richyrichuk wrote: »that isnt linksys official site.
You contribution to this thread has been really useful - not. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Are you sure that you pressed the reset button for long enough? e.g some need to be pressed for 15-20 seconds.
I never tried that I thought you meant the control and f5 button was a reset thing but I don't really want to reset it now as I've got the wireless working ok I darent mess with it now.
I might send the screenshot off to linksys though just to see what they say but I've heard thier customer support is bad despite how big the company is. My daughter said that when she had this router brand new at the student house it did this, its never looked ok on http://192.168.1.1Thanx

Routers working ok now just cant get to the settings that way. As I mentioned in my last post it has been like it since it was bought brand new but my daughter used it in the uni house and I didn't know this was happening with it or I would have said take it back especially as they gave her the wrong flippin router and charged her more for it in the first place.
I wonder if anyone else with this router has had the same problemThanx
