Try Pressing CTRL + F5. This is a hard refresh, which will force Internet Explorer to load new webpages, not cached ones.

Try IE, Tools, Internet Options, Click the Security tab, Click the Default level button. Make sure the security level is Medium or lower. Then click the OK button.

  • If Ctrl+F5 and changing IE security level doesn't fix the problem, try switching off the router for 2 mins and switching it back on.

If that doesn't fix it, try resetting it - see the manual, available here.

If that still doesn't fix it, download the latest firmware for your router model (you said it was WRT54GS in another thread) and version (on the underside) from the same link, and upgrade the firmware - again follow the steps in the manual. Upgrade the firmware from a computer connected to the router with Ethernet cable; don't do it wirelessly.

Thanx its actually the WRT54G weve only just found out she paid for the speedbooster one which was more money but they gave her the cheaper one at pc world but she didnt realise at the time, too late to complain now though.

I did go to the site before to get the firmware its v5 but when I went to open the file it was odd and said it could damage the computer, I must say they dont make upgrading firmware very easy on there theres a lot of different routers so hope its the right one. I did look for a program to open the file but it said there wasnt one I've never come accross that before
    Thanx

I can't believe that it would be necessary to do a firmware update on a brand new router and if you are having difficulty communicating, it could give you more problems.

Follow the steps in the User Guide in Upgrading Firmware section. In brief, you download the .BIN file to your computer, open the router config page http://192.168.1.1, go to Firmware Upgrade and browse to the .BIN file. Do this from a wired connection, not wireless.

I'm thinking that the firmware may have become corrupted, hence reflashing (upgrading) it may help.
