Thank you for your reply mobilejunkie. I have read your ground rules.
When I signed up with mobiles.co.uk and received their initial letter with the cashback dates, I registered for their online application. The dates on there were the same as in the letter, so I marked them in my agenda and discarded the letter.
Between this date and the first cashback date, they changed their website. When I wanted to log in on the first cashback date, I had to re-register and create a new account (their website actually still says that you need to re-register if your last login was before May 2016).
As I logged into my new account, the cashback dates on there were different from when I had first logged in, and two cashback claims had already expired.
Now I know what you are going to say - that I should have kept the letter and taken a screenshot of the cashback dates when I first logged in.
But suppose I had done this. All they then had to do is claim that they had notified me of the change. And how do I prove that never happened?
So what is the answer then? Should I have logged in to their website every month just to make sure they weren't changing the cashback dates behind my back?
What I mean is - how far can we possibly and humanly be expected to go? Isn't there something fundamentally wrong with mobiles.co.uk's trade standards and company ethics if one has to act like a paranoid lunatic just to get the money that they are contractually entitled to?
Is it really too much to ask that they
1. don't change my cashback dates without notifying me
and
2. have a straightforward process in place so I can still get my money if plan A (cheque) fails?0 -
1) You haven't, in fact, followed the groundrules. I have long warned against believing or relying on dates shown in on-line accounts or paperwork. What you describe is nothing new and WHY there are groundrules.
2) The actual claim dates cannot change.
3) The claim dates/bills are specified in the t&c prevailing at the point of sale. If they fail to pay on those dates, send a LBA and sue if needbe.
4) There is no way if you follow the groundrules that you can miss TWO claims. As soon as the first one is missed (which should never happen) you would be aware of the mistake. Since claims are generally at least 3 months apart and the claim window is 2 months you've again not actually followed the groundrules.
5) If you can't get it right now be glad you didn't use cashback deals in years gone by - when the claim window was as little as 14 days with some dealers, 30 with CPW and relied on post rather than on-line bill submissions (amongst other traps).
I have had and watched over hundreds of these deals for myself and others. About 2-3 claims from others were missed despite my best efforts to esure they were done on time, correctly and ready to sue if needbe (I don't make the claims for them but do remind them each time, check at every stage and follow-up - but ultimatley it's them who have to do what I tell them to when I tell them to). Maybe a dozen or so other claims required LBA and/or suing - which always worked. A very few were lost when dealers went bust (but in fact losses were mitigated and minimal and in one case (I) actually still made a profit.
If you can still access the t&c applying on their website on the date you ordered, work out the claim months and follow those (AND all the other groundrules). It is not too late to ensure you don't miss any of the remaining claims. Don't rely on CPW - it's not in their interests to actually pay you.0 -
Hi I have spoken to EE to see if they would match mnobiles.co.uk price and they said no and how the phones from mobiles.co.uk are sourced from different suppliers other than Samsung also in order for me to keep my number I have to do a triangle port my EE number so I can put it back on EE which I have never had to do when I got a phone from CPW in the past.
How much of this is true as I am now worried about getting a phone from mobiles.co.uk now
ThanksSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
I don't know about porting your number but I believe they are part of CPW.0

Its nothing new, ive heard of it. As to what you were told by EE I cant say if its true or not. Have you tried the chat option ? Phone EE up again and speak to a different CSR.
Just port your number to another network, say virgin then port to mobiles.co.uk.0 -
I have spoke to other sources and it would appear that they get the phones from outside the EU or what I would call a "Grey import"
Another story that what has also been repeat by different sources tonight is some of the phones are customer phones that have just been opened and returned but not refurbs
whether any of the above is true I don't know but I aint taking the chance with them.
I have asked the company for an answer to the above and also Samsung themselves on whether they supply them directSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
The porting bit sounds right - you're in effect a new customer, not upgrading direct with EE
I had a Samsung a few years ago from Mobiles.co.uk - seemed to be a UK supplied one, sealed with correct charger etc.0 -
A lot of rubbish from EE, unsurprisingly.
A) New UK phonesCustomer returned phones as mentioned will always be labelled "refurbished" but aren't the norm.
C) Unlike EE, phones come unlocked.
D) unless it's a so-called upgrade, you'd have to port out and back via another network with either to keep the number. Upgrades wouldn't need it, whoever from.
E) CPW will often be cheaper, especially if using a cashback contract (which the networks don't offer).0 -
How long does this porting take?
Would I have to put credit on the PAYG sim card in order for this porting to work?

1) A few days overall. Not many.
2) No.0
