  • Hi DIA. We have roughly the same amount of debt now. You've done really well this year and also getting MF. I couldn't imagine trying to pay all mine next year. Hopefully only a couple of years, maybe 18 months. Will be able to plan it better when I move.

    Keep up the good work.

I finished reading your diary this morning DIA and was transformed inspired. I have spent the day making a start on my house as its such a mess and awful state of repair.

Will look forward to reading your diary. Subscribed.

  • Thank you for the encouragement Tink. and you are right Beanielou a year will go quickly :)

Thank you Parsnip for reading my diary. (I love your username by the way.) I will seek out your diary too. I have SUCH a lot to do on my home, I hope we can support each other in getting things done whilst still paying debt. Are you decluttering too? My next big step to tackle is selling things as doing so will give me cash to do stuff on the house and declutter at the same time. :money:

I haven’t updated my diary for a few days but I will be back tonight with a proper update

I hope everyone is having a good day :)

I have had a few rough days, so much so that I pulled the plug yesterday and called in unwell. I have not taken any sick days since 2 days in the summer.

My mood has been low. Lots of combined things I think…gloomy weather…family issues…losing the crutch of eating sugar to alter my mood…noise from my neighbour’s constant drilling and DIY, even on a SUNDAY…The stress of Christmas…anyway I have had a constant upset tummy and nightmares 2 days in a row and felt generally stressed…

BUT, last night I slept well and I forced myself to walk 5 miles today. :)

My new eating regime is going well and already I am losing weight. :)

I spent £5.50 in MnS. I am gluten free so I can’t eat beetroot in vinegar as it usually has barley in it, but there was some posh beetroot in fennel for £5 a jar reduced to £2.50. I also bought organic carrots for £1 as I was craving them. I bought some bacon pieces for 30p each (X2)

The biggest bargain was a party seafood platter that was £14 reduced to £1.40. I ditched the mayo but I ate nearly all of the seafood with my carrots. It was delicious and won’t make me fat either :)

I need to keep motivated for the next 12 months so I’m joining in challenges.

From now on in fellow debt busters the length of the days will increase whilst our debts decrease.

    Happy hump day

    DIA x

Sorry you've been feeling a bit low and unwell DIA. Everything is so much harder to deal with.

Well done on sub 15k debt too :T You're totally doing this and I can't wait to raise a glass to you next Christmas when you report that you have no debt to anyone. And you never know what little wins you could have along the way bring debt freedom closer. You do so well with your YS goodies, so maybe you'll win a competition, or find some treasure amongst your clutter!

The challenges are a great idea. I need to do some too I think as I want to be debt free next year as well :)

Wishing you a lovely Christmas but if you're not looking forward to it, it's just another day x

  • Hope you're feeling better DIA. You've done so well and there are no rules about what you do next - if you want to loosen up your budget to allow more enjoyment that's perfectly OK, equally if you decide you want to hammer it for a year.

  • Thanks Rosa, beanielou and Orange Ena, I am feeling much better now and my mood has lifted :)

Yesterday, after work, I was YS hunting in an upmarket city MnS. The customers were grabby and agitated. I ended up leaving my basket and walking away. I can do just as well in my local supermarket. I do not need to battle for food…

I walked 5 miles yesterday and saved £7 in fares :)

I have made a nice batch of soup and I am cooking a gammon. I will leave it in the fridge for cold meat and pickles :)

I love my cashmere. Today I washed 2 jumpers which I will dry then freeze for a day, dry again and pack away.:)

A friend wants to go YS hunting later this afternoon. She will drive and we will have coffee and a chat, hopefully there will be bargains, but if not, it will be nice to spend some time with her.

Yesterday I applied to be part of a residential workshop based in the USA that only comes to England every few years. The residency is at Cambridge University so it will be amazing (if unlikely) if I get chosen. The odds are poor, but the odds are poorer still if I don’t try.

WFH this morning and then my Christmas holiday starts.

    Happy Christmas everyone :j

Thank you for reading and encouraging me to continue on this journey. Your support means more than you know :A
