Thanks Beanielou and MT, I love that quote ‘deprivation is a false economy’ It is, it is!

Thanks Orange Ena. Face pack Friday is one of your many brilliant ideas and an example of why I love reading diaries and being inspired

Yay! I did my first circuit class on my new regime yesterday. :T It was exhausting but I did it at my own pace and I’ll get fitter fast. It’s on my doorstep so no fares. So, an hours exercise for me. I ate at 5pm so to be honest I was hungry by 10pm but I was also tired and lucky for me my tiredness was greater than my hunger.

    Another new food plan (yawn)

I notice I focus on food lots. It’s because I’ve always been greedy, but also because if I don’t eat right I get tired and lack energy so I go to coffee or sugar to give me a boost and then I’m in a horrible cycle of binging and then my weight and health suffer and my mood isn’t great either. I feel so good and I’m much less likely to get a migraine when I eat well!

I want to move away from meat but I don’t do well with lots of carbs even complex carbs like beans and lentils aren’t great if I eat too much, unless balanced with non carb protein. :(

So, Aldi and Lidl to the rescue. Their free range chicken is really good. Mackerel fillets in tomato sauce are good too, and not full of nasties. (There is a little sugar, but not much.) I’m going to try Aldi wild salmon frozen fillets. I’ll buy eggs, lentils and some pulses and feta and these will make up the protein for my weekly shop ( 20 pw =80)

I’ll keep to an Ocad0 shop for the heavy stuff once a month and household items (60)

I’ll keep to an A&C delivery once a month (15)

    TOTAL =£38.75

I know I could shop and eat cheaper but nutrition and good food is very important to me so I’m happy with this amount. :)

Today I’m making hummus, cooking adzuki beans and making a batch of lentil, veggies, tomato and miso soup. I’m eating my main meal of chilli and cauliflower rice at lunchtime and I’m having lentil, veggie and miso soup before 5pm, so I’m not too full for yoga at 7pm. :)

A WFH day for me today

Off to check-in on other people's diaries.

I hope you have a good day x

Your focus on food helps you to keep on track and inspires so many others, so don't ever pull back on that one! :D MTxx
  • How do you do with quinoa? Here are some other great protein grains.

Thanks Mila, I love quinoa and have used it for many years. :)

Yesterday was a NSD 1/31 for August. :)

I feel as if I have beaten-up in my sleep. I’m moving slowly and stiffly. I’m assuming it was from circuits on Monday and yoga yesterday. Exercising at a time when I’m usually in relaxation mode feels odd too. Hey ho, the more I do it, the easier it will get. After 8 weeks an action becomes a habit so roll on 8 weeks. My target of 2 exercise sessions a week has been met so due to my soreness I am going to pass on circuits tonight.

Washing done and on the line X2

Weirdly, I seem to be ‘off’ certain foods. Eggs turned my stomach this morning and some other bits in my fridge went in the bin too. VERY unlike me…The only foods that appeal to me today are dry foods and lots of tea.

I seem to have overspent on my food budget…oops. Any other food spending until payday will now have to come out of my pocket money :o

I got a £20 refund from the railway company. I have put that in my emergency fund and added £5 just to round it up. I now have £150 in savings. This has not happened in years. :money:

MnS have a rooibos chocolate tea that is definitely overpriced at £2.90 for 15 bags (you can see how I've exceeded the food budget...)but it is comforting and lovely. Sadly using the last tea bag. Anyone else addicted to this?

I hope your day went well

    Hello DIA,

Thank you for your lovely comment on my diary. Please don't ever hold back on using terminology I've used. I'm always more than happy to share.

Chocolate tea??? Oh dear!!! I think I may need to pop into that shop on my way to the station and check this out!

Happy Hump Day to you!!! :D

I’m going to have a NSD today (2/31)

    Washing on the line

I am going to clean my kitchen floor. That should not be worthy of a statement. It should be an everyday event

I am going to tackle a yuk job today. The extractor fan in the kitchen. Rosa inspired me by doing a yuk cupboard. I’d like to tackle 1 yuk job a week and maybe 1 declutter area too. Although I do find myself finding odd items and putting them straight into the decluttering bag :)

The pain from exercise is subsiding ready for circuits on Monday.

My appetite has decreased. I ate biscuits and Kettle crisps and chocolate yesterday because I couldn’t face ‘proper’ food for most of the day. Not good but hey ho I will do better today.

I’ve weaned myself off coffee. I can go days without it now. I have stopped having coffee at work. I have difficult situations whilst at work so calming teas are a better choice

I was inspired by ‘eating well for less’ yesterday by the chickpea burgers. I like chickpeas and although they have similar carbs to other beans they do not make me want to go to sleep. I’m going to make them today and to up the taste and lower the carbs a bit more I’m adding feta, spring onion and pesto. Serving them on large grilled mushrooms and loads of salad and gherkins on the side. Yum. :)

Research on house insurance and boiler servicing and breakdown support today. It’s nice to be able to know I can have the things most people take for granted. :) It isn’t surprising this house makes me feel anxious when I haven’t been able to prioritise insurances in the past.:(

I need to email my Scottish friends to let them know I can’t make the Edinburgh literary festival. Too expensive to get there…I’m okay with that. I will be going to Cornwall in a few weeks so I already have a change of scene coming up and I’ll need pocket money for that.

The weekend is nearing reader :)

I forgot I promised to get this site to you to check that the quotes you're getting are around the correct price:

    http://quotationcheck.com/

I think you need to go to the price list section and then choose from the list of what you're trying to get booked in. I haven't got a clue of what people should be charging, so this has really helped me feel more comfortable with the financial aspect of getting works done.

I also forgot to pick up some chocolate tea!! Earth to MT!!!

Now don't forget the tea today :)

Yesterday and today take me to 3/31 NSD. :money:

Funny how easy it is for me to fool myself about my weight. I just don’t notice until I attempt to wear something that I haven’t worn for a while and it fits me quite differently.

Well, I weighed myself this morning and within the last year I have gained 10lbs. I am already heavy so that’s a lot for me. Well, news alert! It’s coming off again as I refuse to be fatter, slower and unhealthier. LET BATTLE COMMENCE ;)

I made hummus today and my protein yesterday and today was fish. I made salmon in miso with veggies and it tasted fab. :) I’ll definitely do it again but next time with fast cooking veggies in the sauce. I ate really healthily yesterday, but I went to bed a bit hungry to be honest. Today I’ve been snacking on carrots and hummus so I hope to be less hungry later…

When I shop tomorrow I’ll be buying a certain brand of spray oil. I’m not keen on processed oils but I’ll use it until I can buy an oil mister, as this should help with the weight loss. I’m also buying tons of salad, veg and fruit.

All the pain from exercise has gone and I’m looking forward to circuits on Monday again. I have become sedentary. I was thinking about a fitbit but that can wait. Instead I am renewing my 1 hour exercise per day target instead, which I failed today by the way…:o I really need to think about how to get exercise into my life on the days when I don’t do formal exercise. In theory I could walk on the days I go to the office and take the bus. I would get in an hours exercise each way and it takes forever but I get a good seat all the way so I could read. I save money too!

I did my own eyebrows today :money:

I hope you have had a good day reader

    Hi MT

If chocolate tea appeals this may interest you too... http://www.duffyschocolate.co.uk/shop/drinks-beans/panama-cocoa-tea-200g . I got some ages ago and hadn't really taken to it, but this week I made it in a one cup cafetiere and it was delicious. I'm going to try putting a bit of mint in with it too.

That looks a really useful site from MT and thank you for the pointer about TaxAid. I will be looking at that.

You're inspiring me to think more about what I eat and I will be making a trip to Ald1 later this week :)
