I also sporadically shop the way you do. Things in, a little thought, things back out again. The extra walking I do to put things back makes me see this as a positive. Since using the scan as you shop machines, I rarely get away without being randomly chosen to have my items checked. I'm sure this is due to my returning items!

Well done on booking the plumber. Workmen I've spoken to have also said they only judge filth rather than tiredness of a place. I'm not sure I agree with accepting a quote you know is more than it should be. Could you get one more quote? I found a website online that gives you an idea on prices for jobs. I'll try to find the link for you tomorrow and post it here.

    Enjoy your home day tomorrow.

:rotfl::rotfl: I do this too and I think I also had a phase of tracking the un-bought things on my diary. Bulimic shopping :rotfl: I do it much less now as having more flexibility makes the bargains seem less urgent.

I am still in awe of your meal planning though nearly finished the decluttering here and will get onto improving what I eat.

How much difference are we talking with the expensive quote? I can see why you would prefer to save hassle, but I'm a little concerned that someone who quotes high and doesn't acknowledge it to you may not be the ideal option. My lovely garage and the tradesmen recommended to me by a friend are all open about why they pitched the cost where they did and happy to explain their reasoning to me. So if he's quoted for higher quality, included alterations that will make the next part of the job easier, or because he's fitting it in at short notice, he could have told you. A comparison would be useful, but of course only you can decide on what saving the hassle is worth.

Enjoy flylady - she rocks. And don't panic at all the stuff on the website, read the introduction and listen to the bits about babysteps!

I got two quotes for a partial section of my cinder block fence to be replaced. The first was $14,000 and the second was $1800. We took the second quote of course and are so very pleased with his work. A local landscape business owner ask us for his phone number as he was so impressed.

You have waited a long time to get this fixed and I think it would be good if you had at least another quote. It could mean serious money kept in your pocket to start the other remodel jobs. Maybe you could ask a friend to be there when the 2nd plumber comes to do an estimate so that your anxiety doesn't overtake the process. I have very serious anxiety and do better (ok actually) when a friend is with me. I know the frustration of needing to do this but I also know how frozen I get when I don't. Just a suggestion. On the other hand, that you got the first quote is huge and if you feel like going with it then do it!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • I know we all try to save money but if you're comfortable dealing with this plumber, take the hit in your pocket. You really need this fixed and I'd be concerned that looking for another quote would delay things that really can't wait.

I was supposed to go out to buy my foundation yesterday when I still had a travel pass, but I stayed home and today was my active out of the house day instead. So I paid fares today, not ideal...

I went to buy my foundation but they only had the small size. I will need to go to a major MAC branch to buy the big size that is double the small size and only £7 more. I wanted it so much I nearly bought it just to have it, but no. Instead I asked for a test pot of said foundation so I can use it until I get to the major MAC store. I got it! I should have enough to last a week or so and then I will use the test pot for my travel bag. Win, Win. :money:

I bought Superdry pumps in purple. They were £50 but reduced to £13. I’ve stored them in my wardrobe for a later date :money:

I bought some shopping in Lidl too. I’m okay eating cheaper meals but I feel deprived without the relishes, the pickles and feta and other bits that make simple dishes nicer. So I got those sorts of things

I cut my own hair again and it looks good again. After I cut my hair I dug out a lipstick/balm, its super moisturising and I’m not sure why I don’t use it more often. :)

My exercise class is at 7pm and I am determined to go. Feeling strangely nervous, although I’m not sure why :o

I bought 2 glasses today. I broke one lately and needed them. There were only 2 left. They were handmade and designer. The price was £6 each but I got them for £1.50 each. I’m happy with that.

Underwear is something that suffers when the budget is stripped back, especially bras. I bought one today. It was £25 but I paid £7.50. Happy with that too :money:

I am being a little spendy I know, but they are all purchases I have considered and all the purchase make sense.

Just for this month my foot is coming off the gas a little. I won’t be coasting but I won’t be driving myself quite as hard

I hope your new month got off to a good start.

I agree with Beanielou. Lots of lovely bargains. All things you bought sound like they're worth having and you got a great deal on them. Deprivation is a false economy. MTxx
