Me too with the socks beanie, indeed I have my thin thermals ticked into my knee high walking socks. Big fan of many layers too - thermal vest, long line vest, long sleeved thin cotton top, jumper, cardigan...My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I try to hide it in the invisible bottom layers if I leave the house - Today I have newish jeans over the top of the thermals, the jumper is thin and fitted, and the cardigan is my pretty new hip length cashmere one so its not as hideous as it sounds. I usually tone a scarf or a necklace with the longer length top for work so the outfit pulls together but I can't function when I am cold. What I really want is some attractive thin fingerless gloves but they are either very expensive or very ugly.
i remember leg warmers, my grandmother used to knit them for me. I of course wore nothing but jeans and t-shirts through the winter, just like my boys. When do we start feeling the cold? I was ok until I lost a lot of weight in my 30s and have never been warm since. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

:rotfl:No thermals here just yet - and if you have a knitting friend then pretty fingerless gloves may be available (mine are from my mum!).
Small cat is happy to sit on me but apparently purrs loud enough to be heard on Skype :o:rotfl:

RosaBernica - good thinking, I'm not great at knitting but might have a try myself: found a pattern here from Elaine that I have been meaning to try for ages.
JoJo - lots of layers seems to be key.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I am glad to see you are all finding inventive ways to keep warm
Good morning campers
Today I am WFH and trying to stay warm!
I will be making a miso veggie soup with veggies left in the bottom of my fridge. I will wash out the bottom of the fridge veg tray too
I have discovered some gorgeous organic apples. I love apples and they are so transportable. Going to buy some more today, so that I always have something to eat on my person. A good, crunchy, sweet apple is nicer to me than chocolate but less easy to get hold of. Should be good for my waistline.
I saved money yesterday by walking instead of taking transport for part of the journey. :money:
I saved money by not eating a meal when I was out last night :money:
I spent on 2 coffees and 2 pieces of cake for a friend. £8.50. I treated another friend to a cup of tea on Thursday, so £10 plus…:o
I am going to replenish my apple supply later and I will also be YS hunting with the change in my purse.
I am going to buy a hat and gloves and thermals after work too. They are expensive but it will help keep me from burning so much gas and electric in the long run. Anyway, being cold makes me unhappy so I won’t do it, even in the name of frugality

WFH today.
I made soup
I also made chickpea pancakes. I added YS coconut yoghurt and it seemed to work well
YS shopping after work:
I was good today. I was not tempted by non reduced items (except for apples and they were planned) and even reduced items that did not seem good buys I put back even though they were 75% off
I only bought freezable good quality protein :money:
Pineapple Chipotle Salsa was £5 now 50p. Bought 9 jars for £4.50. Sort of saved £40.50p although I never would have bought a jar for £5 in the first place so not really a true bargain…I LOVE this stuff. :money:
Sirloin was £8.70 bought for £2.20
Lamb neck fillet 4.25 to 1.30
Loin chops 3.85 to 1.00
Flowers 7.00 to 70p (very fresh too)
Figs 2.75 to 70p
Fennel 1.00 25p
Chicken breasts cooked 4.25 to 1.00
:money:
I also bought a hat for a fortune, very plain, but it was cashmere and I love it so no regrets. It is so warm
I could not afford the gloves too so going to wash and use what I have
Thermals (long johns) from M&S. A bit pricey but recommended to me…we shall see…;)
A send day, but all good spending
