The term "Luxury Car" is simply a marketing term and very subjective.

Audi's are mass-produced, factory built vehicles just like Ford or Vauxhall - try Rolls Royce if you want a luxury hand-built car.

That's debatable... The Rolls Ghost, Wraith and Dawn are BMW 7-series, in the same way that an A1 is a Polo. Since the Ghost was launched, Rolls production has quadrupled.

And, of course, Bentley are VAG, sharing platforms and mechanicals with other VAG brands - such as Audi...

That word emphasis doesn't make a blind bit of difference at all.

But just so you understand I'll rephrase my answer:

Audi is NOT a luxury brand name.

It's part of VAG.

Just like a Lexus is not a luxury car brand name either - it's part of Toyota, but a few years ago it took lifting the bonnet and showing the owner the Toyota logo on several parts before they accepted the connection I tried to get them to believe.
