Can't you officially change your name to the one you use now and used that as proof of name to get one for yourself. Sounds made that you are a bona fide British citizen born here but can't get one.

  • Aww Pigpen how cr*p, and something that should be straightforward too. And how stupid that its OK once they get to 16.

Thanks LW, maybe it does help having us both there. DH is such a softie with the dog and has been really worried about him so I think he wanted to go.

Off to sort some washing and tidy the kitchen then will see what's on telly. DS1 is in a grump because DH manages his footie team and brought him off today because he was struggling. DH feels bad and is trying to smooth things over, I think DS is best just left to work it out on his own. Will leave them to it I think.

I use my married name!!! Its not that difficult, I've used it for nearly 25 years! I got married at 19, I've used it longer than my birth name.

Then they should accept your marriage certificate as proof of name, it rediculous the red tape that you have to go through sometimes. Sorry it's causing you so much hassle.

I don't have one.. I had to get a copy to go in with the divorce application. They said it had to be the original though.. not 'an' orginal ie. replacement

She simply can't go.. though, I appear to be more upset than she is!

I really wanted her to go.. DD1 loved it when she went.

Pigpen Official copies issued by the General Register Office are fine.It is photocopies they won't accept. You can order on-line £9.25

I wouldn't expect them to accept photocopies.. but the 2 people I spoke to clearly said the original not an original.. and I don't have time to order online if they would do. They won't accept my 'proof' either.. its not proof enough.. they want solicitors letters (for a fee) full birth certificate (for a fee) DD3's birth cert which I replaced a couple of years ago in a moment of sense.. I simply cannot afford it, I have zero income at the moment... and the trip is in 4 weeks!

  • Sorry pigpen I understand what you mean now, I had probs with a crb a few years ago, I'd misplaced my original birth certificate and had bought a copy. Needed my crb updating at work but it wouldn't accept the cert as it was issued more than 12 months after my birth. I had to get a photo driving licence to keep my job!! I since found the original so guard it carefully.

I should imagine with only 4wks notice lots won't be able to go - costs / passports and so on. What a shame. Is it a school trip? You'd hope they'd give parents a couple of terms notice!

We have proper snow here - littlies were so excited at bedtime and it hasn't stopped since! Hope we can get to swimming tomorrow :)
