If we vote for Brexit what happens

If you think it sounds sensible, then you should vote for a party that promises such a system, as part of our regular democratic elections. There was nothing in the referendum vote that promised it.
Yes, there are a number of loons who hate the Germans and believe the whole thing is a German plot to take over Europe by stealth, I agree.
EU rules state members must allow free movement of people from any EU country.
The UK voted to leave the EU and by definition all the rules that come with membership. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -
Also In the comments section.1. The UK will not be a member of the WTO on leaving the EU. If it wished to join it could not apply until after leaving the EU. It may not be advantageous to join, and by remaining outside certain of the difficulties you see would be short-circuited.Im afraid you are wrong. The UK is a member of the WTO (joining on the 1st January 1995), with the EU dually representing member states. The UK leaving the EU would not mean that the UK is not a member of the WTO.0 -

By assumption, not definition. Again, the vote was about membership and not removing every rule that the EU has. That may have been what you wanted the vote to mean. I am not denying that many Leave voters thought they were voting for this, but that is their mistake. To err is human, but it is against company policy.0 -
Exports to the European Union now account for just 12 per cent of Britain's economy and companies are looking elsewhere for trade.
The Office for National Statistics' Pink Book – which details the economy's reliance on imports and exports – shows our focus on Europe has dropped steadily for the past five years.
British businesses now earn £222.4billion by selling goods and services to EU countries – equivalent to 12.1 per cent of total economic output.
But the amount sold to nations outside the bloc is higher – at £287.9billion, or 15.7 per cent of the economy. The ONS also said that British exports grew at a world-beating pace in 2015 for the first time since 2006.
It added: 'Within this the UK has seen increased trade activity in goods with non-EU countries, with their share exceeding that of EU countries in the last four years.'
Campaigners argued that the figures showed the UK should look beyond the EU as it sought opportunities for growth.
They said the country was not reliant on the bloc and could afford to be bold in the Brexit negotiations ahead. John Longworth, former head of the British Chambers of Commerce, said: 'Exports to the EU represent an ever-smaller element of our economy but the benefits of Brexit are applicable to the whole of the economy.
'Brexit will allow Britain to become a great trading nation once again. We need to grasp this opportunity.'
Goods exports to the EU now stand at £134billion, but we sell £151billion to the rest of the world. And in the services market – an area where Britain is particularly strong – we sell £88.9billion to Europe, but £136.6billion elsewhere.

Indeed they do.No business as usual on immigration, Theresa May tells leading Eastern European politiciansPrime Minister Theresa May has told a group of senior Eastern European politicians that the UK’s post-Brexit deal with the EU must meet the expectations of the British electorate’s concerns about immigration.
Speaking at press conferences with the Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava and the Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo in Warsaw, she said Britons had sent a “very clear message that they do not want free movement to continue as it has in the past.”

The comments come as new figures released on Thursday show the number of Poles in jails in England and Wales has risen above 1,000 for the first time, meaning they now comprise the largest group of foreign national offenders in UK prisons.
There were 1,012 Polish prisoners behind bars at the end of last month, 745 Irish, 674 Romanians, 534 Jamaicans and 512 Albanians.
Under a compulsory deal, EU prisoners can be transferred home to serve their sentence but Poland has a deferred this until the end of the year so it can provide more cells.

Don't forget it's not cheap to keep people in prison - costs more than sending a kid to Eaton!0 -

In other PollsNo boost in support for Scottish independence despite Brexit, new poll findsBritain’s decision to leave the EU has not triggered a boost in support for Scottish independence, according to a new YouGov poll that undermines the SNP’s push for a second referendum. Some 53 per cent of Scottish voters oppose independence while 47 per cent support the move – almost identical figures to before the Brexit vote last month.
The findings undermine the claim by SNP leaders that the UK’s decision to leave the EU despite Scots voting to remain has put the country “truly on the brink of independence”.

You actually seem like one of the few sensible FTBers who isn't gullible enough to believe all the buy, buy, BUY! hype from the rampers on here.
I think mortgage approvals are way down, he probably isn`t the only one.0 -
A national scale referendum on something as broad as membership of a club as big as the EU was always going to produce a wide range of expectations from the result.
It's impossible for politicians to meet these expectations; all we have done is show just how much division there is out there.
It's a rare occasion when regional politics has been shown to be a major factor though. The Scots feel they are different as a collective when it comes to Europe. So does London. However, the NE and East of England as regions have a completely different take.
Any political party would surely look to tap into the votes in these regions. I wonder if we will see more parties like UKIP and SNP, parties with a single predominant theme.0
