This started because I suggested treating foreign people with equal contempt wasn't exactly a platform on which to lecture about discrimination.

Yet here we are talking about the EU 's '100% racist' free movement policy. No problem with treating foreigners with contempt as long as it's done in a PC non-discrimatory way.

    We've been Claptoned.

I dunno, I just had real world experience of the discrimination in the system that people are holding up as a shining example against discrimination. And I'm just wrong because they say I am?

Reasoned debate certainly has been lost. You could even say that the refusal to acknowledge my wife's plight was a sign of bigotry. How can discrimination be reduced in a system that also introduces it. It's only non discriminatory to those it doesn't discriminate against, does that make sense? And the way they talk about rights and discrimination is pious, but ignores the reality.

It certainly has, and no, you're not wrong about there being discrimination, but that some discrimination remains is not a justification to remove the thus far established freedom of movements (increasing discrimination) as Clapton advocates.
If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.

You should be fair if you're going to be critical, for all his faults he does have a point about discrimination existing in the system of free movement.

It may have removed discrimination for those inside the system, but it's certainly not as virtuous as is claimed.

I've never been unfair about the fact that the freedom of movement isn't global, and that restricting freedom of movement on no-objective criteria is discriminatory. It's undeniable though, that this isn't a justification for a return to a nationalist system that reduces the existing freedom of movements, and I am critical of those that advocate that.

Some E.U. migrants seem to be more than prepared to work at these jobs at a rate significantly higher than they would earn in E.Europe. (as an aside : in Poland wages have gone up 23pct and in the U.K the last 7 years 10pct DOWN.

Open economics text book, turn to chapter 1, page 1 - Supply and Demand and see if you can work this one out.....
    I think....

I suspect this time next year or 2 and crashy times posts per day on here will be a fraction what they are now.

I went part time with work so i can live a bit more, here and now. I'm buying another house in a few weeks. I'd rather have a house/mortgage than £250k doing nothing in a bank.

The European parliament have no power! It's all in the hand of the (unelected) commissioners.

Wrong. It is the council of ministers who are responsible for Article 50 negotiations. The Commission will however negotiate the detail for the Council to approve.
    2. A Member State which decides to withdraw shall notify the European Council of its intention. In the light of the guidelines provided by the European Council, the Union shall negotiate and conclude an agreement with that State, setting out the arrangements for its withdrawal, taking account of the framework for its future relationship with the Union. That agreement shall be negotiated in accordance with Article 218(3) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. It shall be concluded on behalf of the Union by the Council, acting by a qualified majority, after obtaining the consent of the European Parliament.

I would say my post is neither awesome or silly (even by Claptonesque standards)

It is however TRUE which distinguishes it from some others
