Very few boomers did this as you well know. Even now most Brits die within 25 miles of where they were born.0 -

what an idiotic statement
one expects nothing else of course0 -
is there any truth that the lower paid are worse off now than x years ago. Not sure I would pick one single year to make a comparison as it could be an outlier but maybe a 5 or 10 year rolling period.
I am also not convinced of the idea that a generation ago things were easier.
I was one of 4 and we were born 67-71. My dad was semi-skilled and my mum low paid.
I think most people would claim it difficult now to bring up 4 kids on low wages.
We didn't have most of the "stuff" we have now.
We had 1 car, holidayed in tents, hardly any meals or trips out and hand-me-down clothes. My dad cycled to work and I'm sure we had 2nd hand prams. We were pretty normal.
It certainly feels as though people demand a lot more now (partly because that is now the norm).
My parents reckon people wer happiest in the 70s and there was less emphasis on money and consumerism.0 -
Well it really depends on what timescale doesn't it. Knife crime is definitely up since the invention of the knife, but down since 2010.
The onus of proof isn't on the reader of your nonsense though. That's your job.
What do I think caused it? Plenty of reasons, all different for each thing I'm sure.
According to the ONS sexual offences are on the increase. FACT https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/bulletins/crimeinenglandandwales/yearendingdecember2015#sexual-offences
Knife crime UP in London FACT https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/sep/20/metropolitan-police-say-knife-up-18-in-london
If you look at the percentage of "white British" living in the uk you will see a disproportionate amount of offences are created by the "Non White British" Groups. How can you explain that huge difference?0 -
May well ahead in the first round of voting in the race for PM. Leadsom and Gove 2nd and 3rd respectively. Looking like we're going to get a female PM but whether she's a Brexiteer or lukewarm remainder is still to be decided by party members.

She's not a Brexiteer, she's a conservative. Two different things and they need two different parties.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -
Crabb withdraws from leadership race.
Last 3 tory leadership races, winner of first round failed to become leader. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

I was surprised that Fox decided to back May, but with him and Crabb supporting May, it would take an interesting turn for May not to win. I wish Gove and his annoying friend Rees-Mogg would just get lost though. To err is human, but it is against company policy.0 -

you can bring up 10 children on no wage in this country. How easy was doing that 50 years ago?My parents reckon people wer happiest in the 70s and there was less emphasis on money and consumerism.
what they mean is they were happiest in the 1970s when they were young and had a nice young family with children and health.0 -
Funnily enough no one in the brexit camp is saying anything different, it is only the tory remainers who are it would seem deliberately causing a problem, it is almost as if they want sabotage things to be in a position to say I told you so.
Personally I am not sure if the chancellor and carney's post brexit pronouncements may not fall into the same category.
I cannot choose which Tory to beleve, my inclination is neither:)Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
