Good to see the ftse closing higher than the day before Brexit (When the world and his dog thought Remain was a certainty) plus substantial gains for the ftse 250 and 350 this past 48 hours. Pound also recovering well.

The markets will no doubt see falls and gains this next few months but current levels are a million miles away from the the experts pre-Brexit predictions of 20% falls in both ftse and pound.

I think you don't get "uncertainty"
Children leaving home to study in a foreign country is very stressful for parents as well as the students. The added worry is not needed. It is very easy to say it hasn't happened before but we are now living the "it hasn't happened before"

And as for numbers. From tiny Luxembourg there are roughly 1200 studying at the moment in Britain. Numbers have doubled since 2011.

You may not notice 1200 Luxembourgers but there are probably between 300000 and 400000 EU students in Britain, some probably living near you!
There are many more students from non-EU countries (284,010) in the UK than are from other EU states (107,925). Many of those are from China (89,540).

Obviously their population is far larger, but it just shows you don't necessarily need a stable political union to attract foreign students. Indeed, there are more students from India, Malaysia, Nigeria, the United States and from Hong Kong than there are from the top EU nation, Germany.

The quid bought a dollar fifty on Thursday night, now it buys a buck and a third. This is just the first impact.

Next you have the downgrades by the ratings agencies. Next comes capital flight and finally you'll have an end of FDI at the very least until it becomes clear what access you'll have to the Single Market and maybe not even then.

You clearly have no idea how stupid the rest of the world thinks this decision is. No CEO could possibly announce an investment in the UK now.

    Idiots.

    I didn't vote leave.

We have already had 2 ratings agencies downgrade us to negative.

A lot of our financial services will move overseas taking our highly paid professionals and their taxes with them. The rest of the EU will be able to sell their cars etc to them. This won't happen all at once but it will. Sky News interviewed some Young British professionals working in Brussels. They could not understand why we voted to be so isolationist and to shut our economy down.

Thing is, it's sort of business as usual because, it's clear nothing is going to happen for a while...
    - the UK is still in the EU
    - article 50 is nowhere near being invoked and it'll be even longer until a clearer picture emerges about what deal can be done.

Companies aren't going to go through the expense of setting up new offices and relocating people unless they have to. However if one starts they will all follow.

Interesting leaked eMail from Michael Gove's wife:

    sarah-9.png?resize=540%2C313

    Which is being interpreted as:
Henry Cook, Henry Newman and Beth Armstrong are Gove’s SpAds; Sarah wants Michael to secure assurances from Boris that his government will not waver from delivering Brexit in full or bottle it on free movement – a key concern of Leave MPs in the last 48 hours
Michael Gove want's nothing less than full Brexit with no free movement. Boris appears to be dithering.

I interpreted it as Gove's wife instructing him to make sure he used his leverage to get a decent position in the cabinet.

Dare I say some young British professionals in Brussels, the holy land of the European project, may have some skin in that particular game? Their views are not surprising if they're the kind of people who directly benefit from this union.
