It was uplifting to hear those British students (studying in the EU courtesy of the Erasmus programme) talking about 'personal sovereignty', their freedom to be EU and world citizens, putting it way above the narrow minded notion of national sovereignty, the 'us vs. them' mentality so often portrayed by cantankerous, angry little englanders on this forum.
It gives me hope for the future.
In what way are they 'world citizens'?
Is this an illustration of your personal commitment to the total freedom of movement of all people to the EU?0 -

Ha ha, because all the young people from independent nations do not enjoy travel freedoms, do not do exchanges, and do not see themselves as citizens of Earth, lol. Amazing I've met so many non EU citizens enjoying their time in Europe, no sense of a lack of anything.
I must let all those Aussies over in Croatia know they are narrow minded, hopeless people from a backwards society.0 -

EU-US negotiations on TTIP are entering their 6th year.
But the UK is going to get a good deal and fast. Hilarious.
Excellent news. We're a party to both those negotiations.
Looks like all the ground work's already been done for us.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -
You're thinking of 1992. The problem with the polls in 2015 were that Ds and Es didn't vote much and As and Bs did. Also, the pollsters systematically asked too many previous Labour voters and too few previous Tory voters how they would vote, they got the sampling wrong.
YouGov's come out swinging today anyway. They're saying that the phone polls are catching too many highly educated people in comparison to the general population. Who knows though.Revealed: new evidence reveals greater skews in phone polls
Phone polls have too high a percentage of graduates – YouGov's online polls don't
So any differences in the education levels between samples would have a major effect on the overall poll lead. And a YouGov investigation has revealed that there are indeed major differences between samples.
In their phone polls in February and March Populus asked about the highest level of education attained by the people in their sample. In February they found 44% with a degree or higher and in March that was 46%. By contrast, since we fixed the problems that we – along with all pollsters – had with GE15, in YouGov online polls that number is less than 30%..
...This experiment revealed a dramatically different result compared to what we have seen from other phone polls. The online poll had a two point Leave lead with 40% saying leave and 38% saying remain. And the YouGov phone poll had a three point leave lead of 39% to 36%.
Full article too long to post.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Although YouGovs new online poll also shows a lead for Remain, with admission that the online polls had been picking up too many UKIP voters.

Our democratically elected British government has been one of the biggest cheerleaders for Turkey joining the EU for many years now, to the best of my knowledge anyway.0 -
Because a trade deal with the uk (a single national interest) is no less complicated than a deal with the 27 member EU, such agreements are bound to take just as long.....
The TPP took 8 years to negotiate:
