"Britain is an amazing country. We've got the fifth biggest economy in the world. We're the top ten manufacturer. We've got incredibly strong financial services. The world wants to do business here. Look at the record of inward investment. Look at the leaders beating the path to our door to come and see what's happening with this great country's economy. The argument isn't whether Britain could survive outside the EU. Of course it could".

I am not sure how many people have contributed to this thread but quite a few. We must cover all walks of life and live in different parts.
Have any of us heard any anecdotes that the uncertainty leading up to the referendum is effecting anyone positively or negatively. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Long Term the EU is growing am a huge rate, in the next 5 years 7 countries will enter, all poor. there are rumbles that a further 9 will be considered between 2020 and 2030.
How is the EU supposed to grow economically as a whole?
How will the EU generate enough money to rebuild at least 9 countries (Spain Italy, Greece and 6 of the upcoming 7)?
If you're simply talking about wanting GDP growth from an entity then admitting poorer members is a great idea as poorer countries tend to have much higher GDP growth rates than richer ones, especially if they sort their governance out which EU membership will go some way to doing as better structures are forced upon them as a condition for joining.
The EU budget is tiny, it is limited to 3% of the GDP of the EU, and so tends to do a lot of work on things like sharing best practice across the union rather than spending loads of money on stuff as it simply doesn't have loads of money.
The big money it does spend on nation building has tended to be on infrastructure: roads to rural areas for example.0 -

You've left out the bit where he qualifies this statement, and it's an important bit. I don't think you should do that as it undermines your point. Perhaps you could paste the rest of the quote for us?0 -

It would be for the best, we waste too much time and energy in this country allowing people to hold and espuse opposing views. The plebs should be allowed a token vote every 5 years for a parliament with strictly proscribed powers preferably selecting from a shallow pool of the benign ruling classes.I think....0 -
