Quite possibly one of the most asinine posts ever seen here in this thread. You were given the opportunity to back out of this gracefully, Jock.
 Oh dear.
As were you and yet you persist. Oh well, here goes:
You were given the opportunity to save some face.
Yet again you are about to look extremely foolish.
But no, you continue to strut and prance like a pompous chicken striding towards a hungry fox of hubris.
 Personal and abusive because????
 So...
 Yes?
The piece you quote - entitled "News Article" is from the almost unimaginably well financed - British High Commission in New Delhi. This palatial building occupies acres of prime real estate in the centre of the city and would befit the Maharajah himself, were he still to exist.
Regardless of your personal opinion (and despite your obvious sneering disregard) this REMAINS part of UK Government.
Do you have a problem with our Government?
Then address the matter to them and not to me.
Where it happens to be is irrelevant other than to say that (obviously) affairs relating to India may well be reported from our OFFICIAL department of the UK Government in that country.
This entity does not have an entirely impartial interest in making it appear that everything in India's UK relations is going marvellously well and is terrific value for money and so what if a few more hospitals close in chilly old England when the chai wallahs need another payrise and the East Wing needs redoing with wall to wall iPads serving a consulate in a country which is of less real value to us then Belgium?
You are suggesting that the UK government is deliberately being untruthful?
That it should somehow deny reality, just because you do?
As above, if you take umbrage then direct your venom towards the Government department involved and not myself who merely reports their findings.
I politely suggest you tread carefully too in the use of derogatory terminology towards other races.
This "News Article" is from this report:
 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dit-inward-investment-results-for-the-tax-year-2015-to-2016/department-for-international-trade-inward-investment-results-2015-to-2016
A report which I can only conclude you either haven't read - or have read, but still remain hopelessly confused as to the difference between Foreign Direct Investment in £'s, and what they somewhat ambiguously refer to as "projects".
I have indeed read it but that is largely irrelevant.
The original post questioned India being the third-largest investor.
The above link confirms that statement.
 End of.
Just because the official statement does not conform to your definition of whom the third-largest investor into the UK is has no relevance to the above which clearly says it is.
I was not originally asked whether the investment was in projects, GB£ or bolts of cloth for that matter.
You should perhaps note that the Government do have a tendency to report the UK's FDI's as "projects" regardless of whom they relate to. Again if unhappy I suggest taking the matter up with them.
 See: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-remains-number-one-investment-destination-in-europe for example.
Neither the UKTI report, the Bank of Santander report, or the OECD figures bear out your hypothesis. India is a couple of % at best of our FDI, China even less so (who are also riding high in your news article).
Irrelevant as said above (for reasons see earlier posts re: relevance & methodology) as well as ignoring my examples in earlier posts, such as the Indian Government who confirm our own Government's statement.
 From that:
India undertook 122 FDI projects in 2014-15 in the UK, marking an increase of 65 per cent over last year and making it the UK’s third largest source of FDI, accounting for over 9,000 new jobs. According to UK Office for National Statistics, the value of Indian FDI into the UK has registered a notable increase between 2004 and 2013, from £164 million to £1.9 billion. UK attracts more Indian investments than the rest of the EU altogether.
Since UK inward FDI for 2013 (the year mentioned directly above) was £33 billion in 2013, perhaps you would be kind enough to calculate what percentage India's £1.9 billion thus equates to?
Would it perchance be in the region of 5.7%?
A little more than your facetious "couple of percent" then - and increased from 2013 we are told.
So to summarise Jock - you might not be quite as clever as you think you are.
I have no illusions as to my ability.
Perhaps though upon reviewing the above you should consider your own intellectual capacity.
As well as being completely wrong AND - to top it all - abusive.
Are you REALLY trying for some sort of record, I wonder?
 *sigh*

Damn all those thick poor people who were asked if they wanted to change things and said yes because their actual lives don't reflect the joyous picture described above.
Better to be poor in Britain than in China or Brazil.
I can see how poor people think they will be richer as a result of Brexit because they could go and pick strawberries for a tenner an hour or something. The fact is that you either pick strawberries at the minimum wage or you don't pick strawberries.
I don't give a stuff about whether other posters like strawberry analogies or not. Let's get some simple bookkeeping going. If you impose higher costs on businesses then the weakest ones will go bust and their workers will lose their jobs. If Brits won't pick strawberries at the minimum wage then you may well find that strawberries will still be picked by foreigners but they will simply be working in other countries.
I don't give a stuff about who voted for what. The vote has been had and we need to concentrate on the future and that future is going to be pretty bleak if we pretend that any outcome is going to be amazing as long as it's Brexit. Britain needs to understand the range of impacts that result from changes and concentrate on those changes that are likeliest to end up with British industries thriving.
Leave won the vote but is running from the consequences of that vote. That's cowardly and I believe that history will not judge Brexiteers kindly.0

 Oh yes.
 "Ouch"!
I often wish I had more time to post, so that I too could negate the misdirections seen so often on here by (mostly) pro-remain posters.
Talking of which, what a surprise it is to see you in a mutual back-slapping club together with Shakey and Wotsthat.
Wherever there is a hint of sowing discord eh?
I just read that UK growth was ("likely") to have been 0.5% in March.

'Progressives' are invariably charlatans that look down upon the working class, and see themselves as superior and of high moral fibre. They talk on behalf of the working class but are totally disconnected.
Right wingers do not disguise who they are, unlike charlatan 'progressives' that are hypocrites at every turn. Gotta love fat cat multi millionaire comedians and artistes that frame wealthy right wingers as fat cats, yet are blinded to their own wealth hoarding and lust for money.
Laurie Penny demanded a huge appearance fee for a charity event - absolutely typical of this charlatan faux social justice warrior.
They decry greed and yet are extremely greedy when it comes to their own book deals / speech making fees.
Right wingers do what it says on the tin, 'progressives' disguise their greed, selfishness and arrogance. Nobody falls for it anymore, the working class find these people odd and irrelevant. The offence taking safe space brigade of social justice warriors in their own bedsit.
How do you know that progressives are 'disconnected'. Do you know loads of progressives? Progressives often are working class! Shami Chakrabarti does not speak for everyone! Like I said right wingers do hide what they are. Farage pretends to be a working class hero but the reality is he was a stockbroker in the metals markets, disguising his xenophobia through populism. Right wing populists have always atttempted to rouse the working classes. Read your history....that's exactly what Hitler and Mussolini did. The biggest opposition Hitler and Mussolini faced by the way was socialist workers in their own country. The middle class, (Petite Bourgeosie), bowed their heads and did what they were told and led their countries to disaster. The accusations of 'greed, selfishness and arrogance' you make are based on your own view of the world, nothing else!0

This is amusing - a series of maps together with explanations of why Europe is destined for extinction:
http://www.businessinsider.com/map-showing-why-europe-will-be-extinct-2017-4?IR=THere are four maps that shows how much Europe is fragmented on all levels and why the European Union is destined for extinction.0

From the FT - The FT1000 fastest-growing companies in Europe:
https://ig.ft.com/ft-1000/Seventy-eight of the companies on the list are based in London, making the British capital a hub for innovation and commerce in the EU even as the UK prepares to leave the bloc. Paris is second with 45 companies, followed by Milan with 34 and 32 in Berlin.
I see that from the top 20 placed, 9 are UK companies.
(Compared to for example 5 in Germany.)0

Hang-on this must be fake, we were told German business was willing to sacrifice trade for Brussels? Remember we're only a small part of overall EU exports, not important, easily replaced, right?
Remain said we lied when predictions around mutual trade were made by leavers.
 Hmmmmm
http://www.politico.eu/article/germany-brexit-reaction-so-what-berlin-indifferent-to-london/London may be getting ahead of itself. German businesses leaders appear to be behind Merkel when it comes to the integrity of the European Union’s single market. “On the idea that German business might soften the German government’s stance: You can cross that off your list,” is how a German diplomat put it.
It's May in retreat and softening red lines at the moment I'd say.
*pats mayonnaise on the back on my way to the Scotland threads. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0

It's more likely to be May not wishing to be seen yet as having a determinedly "Hard Brexit" stance.
 * Ah, as opposed to the "stab in the back or ignore Scottish non-SNP supporters" pro-SNP stance seen so often on the "fish" thread?0
