If we vote for Brexit what happens

However, even senior EU politicians recognise the necessity for major reform of the EU which (if it survives that long TBH) will inevitably require rethinks of those who were previously considering (or indeed would have already) a move to an EU member country.
If the EU fragments then it is no longer a given that Deutsche, BNP and UBS will have a big presence in London let alone the US banks.
Banks do what is easy and profitable. Brexit has made things more complex. We await to see what is profitable.0 -
Just a few minutes ago in fact Guy Verhofstadt said in a speech at Strasbourg that:“Now more than 60 years on, I think and we think, that the European Union needs a profound reform again.”
Yes I know the link is from the Express but it has the video; see for yourself.0 -
Some possible good news for Luxembourg
I am trying not to be selective. The Irish Times says that Dublin is still in the running.

It's really all to do with Passporting rights and won't affect the way Lloyds operates.Like many other financial services companies, Lloyd’s uses passporting rights to access other EU markets from its London base. However, those rights are likely to disappear after Brexit, so Lloyd’s is planning to set up a new EU base elsewhere. The vast majority of its operations will remain in London.
The insurance market had already narrowed its shortlist to five possible locations, and Luxembourg is emerging as its favoured option following recent meetings. Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium are also under consideration. Germany is thought to be the least likely of the five, and Malta has already been ruled out.
Lloyd’s is due to announce its decision by the end of the first quarter and is still talking to several different destinations. Luxembourg’s favoured position was first reported by the Press Association.
Lawyers say that establishing an EU base could be more difficult for Lloyd’s than for more conventional insurers because it is a market consisting of many underwriters, rather than a company.
I speak as an ex Lloyds Underwriter. Lloyds will continue to adapt to changes and new marketing conditions the same way it's done for hundreds of years.0 -

Who have we actually lost? I know of only one person who (I think) deserved to be banned, and that was someone who was malicious and actually didn't seem very well.
I know of at least three recently banned, long-standing posters who really should not have been banned and contributed interesting stuff to the discussions (from different points of view).
I'm thinking of banning myself at this rate…
BTW, what does PPR stand for?
:cool:0 -

We're not supposed to discuss it. Needless to say i'm having difficulty understanding why some have been banned.0 -

Do you think it will necessarily remain as Lloyds of London forever or perhaps move on to be simply Lloyds?0 -
A piece in Der Spiegel this afternoon suggesting that Merkel may well be outed in September's elections in Germany:

No one is expanding. That's the real issue. If anything they are contracting in size. With the technology now available, local offices are arguably more efficient and manageable.0 -

Don't worry, the PPR'd ones will be back to enlighten us about white Christians and African farmers over and over and over and over again....Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0
