Note the wording: "once the UK’s future relationship with the EU is settled".
Also before that: "will conduct a review of its Sunderland plant’s competitiveness" - which let's be honest could mean just about anything.
For one who was so derisive of apparent ambiguity in our governments stance regarding Brexit up until this week at least, you seem remarkably unwilling to see the ambiguity in that statement from Nissan.
You assume to much from my five word observation. Your read to much between the lines. All statements by all cover all bases. I know that because it's in my cynics ManuelThere will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

No, but I thought that I had seen a fordcapri2000 the other day, but it turned out to be an Austin Allegro.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Far right leaders from across Europe are meeting in Koblenz today, including Marine Le Pen, Geert Wilders, Matteo Salvini and Frauke Petry.
Representing Germany, France, Holland and Italy they will be discussing their plans for dismantling the European Union.Emboldened by Britons' vote last year to leave the European Union, the leaders are meeting under the slogan "Freedom for Europe" and aim to strengthen ties between their like-minded parties, whose nationalist tendencies have hampered close collaboration in the past.
Interesting stuff ................ can anyone remain certain that the EU really will survive this year intact, because the pressure for change is without doubt building.0 -

For the avoidance of doubt Graham, the Chairman of Toyota does not use the word "survive" about their British operation lightly.
Yes, he does. But the story continues and explains exactly how they will survive in the UK.
Theres no need to stop reading at the end of that sentence. Unless of course you want to keep wishing upon a star that it means what you want it to mean.
But it doesn't. They clearly explain what surviving means.
This level of desperation is utterly pathetic.0 -
If anyone is interested, this is the original article the Toyota quotes are taken from:

This puts Hamish's quote into context:Takeshi Uchiyamada, chairman of Toyota, also in Davos, told the Financial Times that the company’s UK plants needed to become more competitive if they were to survive the damage from Mrs May’s plans.
“We have seen the direction of the prime minister of the UK, [so] we are now going to consider, together with the suppliers, how our company can survive,” he said.
He makes it quite clear in this quote and later in the article that Brexit has damaged Toyota in the UK and that there are problems that could end Toyota's existence in Britain.0 -

I wonder what they would have made of this brexit thingy.
Probably get VERY ANGRY AT ANYONE DISAGREEING WITH THEM.chucknorris wrote: »No, but I thought that I had seen a fordcapri2000 the other day, but it turned out to be an Austin Allegro.
Maybe the driver was just nipping out to get some anchovy pizza.....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Nissan gave all that baloney about if we dont have the Euro..
If they dont like it, go, i say, but they will stay.

Maybe. Companies (UBS, HSBC) have announced they are relocating staff because of Brexit. Others (Toyota, Hitachi, Airbus, Lloyds of London) have expressed concerns over the future shape of the British economy and how they fit into it.
It's all very well to say to all these companies that they should just go if they don't like it but the first three of these companies provide skilled, well paid, manufacturing jobs that people always tell me are vital to a modern, vibrant economy and the forth provides even better paid service jobs that generate huge amounts of tax revenue and exports to pay for all that lovely Chinese tat that we all love to consume.0 -

Out of curiosity, was he speaking Japanese? Words don't always translate exactly.0
