'Taking back control' just means the primacy of UK law. It's not complicated.

Which laws is it exactly that you want to take back control of and how will that benefit you?

If you read the article it states that in the opinion of the author a sizeable number of Brexiteers voted to leave in order, among other things, to 'take back control of our country'. It is suggested that one thing that they would expect is for us to discontinue sales of our utilities to overseas companies.

Don't remember this being a point of discussion at the time. Being the Guardian. Has more to do with renationalisation of the utilities. A policy that I'm sure Corbyn holds as a core value.

I think the general idea is to stop immigration from the EU and have more from other parts of the world....

and to repeal laws that specify the bendiness of bananas (which do not exist) and replace them with our own British Laws on the shape of fruit.

The triumph of the strategy will be that the new laws will cost a lot of money to write but they will be OUR laws. Made in Britain

But maybe I have missed the point.......

the cost of regulation isn't the few pence it takes to write down what percentage of the apply that has to be red, but having to grade each and every one of the millions that get sold

yes you have entirely missed the point and show you know nothing about the cost of rules and regulations.

But it might well be too complicated for some Brexiteers to understand. That's the point of the article that you appear to be missing.

Some Brexiteers believe that it goes further than that. A significant number feel that having the likes of EDF controlling our utilities is just too much and foreign takeovers should/will cease.

The point is still to come. As has been said on many occasions previously. The EU has to draw into an ever closer fiscal and political Union. Member states cannot continue to pic 'n mix as is the case now.

I agree that the costs of regulation are in the implementation (never said otherwise). My point is just that to replace one EU regulation with a UK one will cost money not save it. Of course we can just dispense with regulations and accept any old rubbish we find on the international banana market etc. Or we could just carry on using EU regulations!:)

One example? VAT Directives. I think it should be up to the UK government what has VAT attached and what doesn't.
