Why do you lot never demand such a plan from your side, Brussels?

This argument is becoming more pervasive. If you voted to remain you're 'one of them', on the 'other side' or somehow unpatriotic. Nonsense.

This is all so daft. The moment May laid out a plan everyone and his dog will claim that Brussels would never agree to it, and that it must be changed, and on and on we go, harming Mrs Mays position

Not after much you know. A few bullet points that's all. I'm fully aware that for some the plans will go too far or not far enough but that's irrelevant.

If that plan involves a vision of free movement you'd be happy if the first time you heard about it was after the start of negotiations?

What is a reasonable level of transparency we should expect from the government during this process? I'm bored of the 'in the Tories we trust argument'.

Remainers don't even know if for example France will remain in, and yet still they have this almost crazed need to remain in the EU mess, so yesterday

How many elections have there been in member states since the UK joined the EU?

I thought you weren't afraid of change? Change is good remember.

Why not argue the point instead of trying to lead into what will be a clumsy insinuation?

I've heard some people in their places of work communicate telepathically with their staff and shareholders and maybe just check in with them once every couple of years. I've also heard that we should never be told of any government plans because someone somewhere will disagree with them. Then we need to remember that telling the EU what we want might damage our negotiating position and so it might be better if we sit at the negotiations mute in case they find out.

However, do you think a 10 - 15 point outline of the government's Brexit vision is unreasonable? If it's unknown at the present time do you think it's reasonable to know when it might be forthcoming?

I rather agree that we are getting to the point where some outline ought to be forthcoming : we are 5 months from the referendum and one could surmise that taking back control should allow for a more speedy decision making that the EU.

The people are sovereign through parliament in our system. The EU is protectionist to those countries outside it yes! But we were in it and from what I recall you were a remainer? Im saying by leaving we are weakening ourselves in an increasingly protectionist world.

I did vote remain but I was only ever 51 - 49 in favour of Remain.

I believe in free trade. What I don't believe in is unelected trade negotiators doing dodgy trade deals in dark rooms away from the eyes of voters - trading away sovereignty, allowing companies to sue governments (without even asking the people if this is ok), taking away workers rights and attacking public services. Why did did a liberal president Obama and the European Commission allow this on their watch? It was their creation for heavens sake.

Remember when we thought an outline plan might be forthcoming in around 6 weeks. Oh how young and naive we used to be.

I'd agree with your point about the EU. One of the brexit arguments was that the EU is undemocratic and slow - it's important that the UK government are seen to be different.

FWIW I think that talks have started (or at least talks about talks). The only evidence I have is that the cross channel mud slinging has reduced. Obviously it's quite possible that the media's attention has moved on or that the EU have other priorities.

Brussels doesn't need a plan; it's role here is entirely reactionary (in that it can only respond to what England wants), and it's position is entirely clear. With no input from May, they've got nothing to do or say.

Mini Thatcher also only ranked a humiliating ninth in the Pres elects phone call schedule. Ouch, it looks like its going to be tough for Little Englanders outside the EU, unless they go full on fascist and elect Farage as their new UKIP Fuhrer.

I think they would just issue a list of fairly bland objectives which we already know, accompanied by a rider that explains that everything is subject to negotiations.

I'm not sure it would clarify anything.

It would be nice if we had early EU negotiations followed by a summary of the chief areas of agreement, and of disagreement... from both sides.

I say it would be nice because I am not confident we would get this. Juncker has said before he is not keen on open discussions, preferring things to be resolved behind closed doors.
