Ok so I finally did my money shuffle and its amazing that I instantly feel back in control! Why did I not do this on Monday?
Problem was that over xmas I didn't have my spreadsheet so was a bit confused what had gone/should have gone from each of my pots (xmas, clothes etc). Note for next xmas - note categories in diary before I break up for xmas!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Oh dear sorry I confused everyone by not knowing what day it was this morning, where did that come from?
Foxgloves hope you are feeling better.
My brain hurts. DS2 sold something on ebay which went into my paypal account. I posted it for him and paid cash out of my own money. DS1 bought something on ebay using part of my paypal balance and gave me the cash for it. Oh and he didnt have the right money so I gave him change. It really shouldnt be that complicated but seeing as I thought it was Monday earlier maybe now is not the best time to sort this out!0 -
Thanks for the kind wishes. I spent most of the day taking it easy but did perk up sufficiently mid-afternoon to clear out 2 more cupboards from my Annoying Things list. Also made a loaf in the BM, did next week's meal plans, finished library book & made tomorrow's packed lunch. Hopefully I shall get off to a better start tomorrow x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 6.8kg/30kg

Debbie the Crazy Clothes Challenge is one of the DFW challenges - you set an amount which is the limit you will spend on clothes over the year. I feel like I'm cheating a bit as mine doesn't include my wedding dress but that'll cost less than £500 and I plan to sell it after the big day02 0% £719.20 £599.32

You really must try a game of Castle Mendeleev. You explore the 18-room castle where each room in entirely made of one of the elements in the first three rows of the periodic table and you have to guess which element is in each room from the clues. (Link)
And remember three, or was it four, new elements are being added to the table this year and there is, as always, a sort of competition to decide on the new names for them. (Link) They are usually names after famous people but you could get you wee one to write a submission outlining why your surname should be chosen to represent the element. I propose "Baileysium".
The Royal Society of Chemistry website has videos and podcasts for every one of the elements too. And there is a link to the Table and art on there too. Someone has designed a logo for each element too, based on its properties. You could try this. The artwork is here (Link) and click on Visual. eg Beryllium is used in gears and cogs particularly in the aviation industry so the logo is a cog in front of a grey fusilage.
You could go in search of the elements with the aid of the RSC page and see how many you can find. Sodium will be found easily at home...and Silicon...and there's a good excuse to explore Helium...Uranium you'll probably find harder to source locally. :rotfl:

I'm on a roll today. I managed to get some sleep and then:
* Paid the rent a day early on 0% credit card to get loyalty points and then paid off credit card immediately.
* Having a little alcohol gifted at Decemberfest.
* Checked all account balances.
* Make a shopping list for tomorrow. I have to go for medical tests so I'll shop while I'm in town.
* Did RoyalMail surveys.
* Need to buy low price, low Wattage, high lumen lightbulbs. Maximum brightness for minimum cost. No sooner had we cleaned the house making the most of the ladder to clean the high places and then storing it away again...than the lightbulb blew. Thank you Sky God.
* OH used up some frozen lamb from New Year to make stew and dumplings.
* Cleared out my letter rack. Lots of recycling from there.

Evening all
Later check in than planned, so it'll be a quick one as I want to get to bed and hopefully to sleep before midnight tonight.
Meetings were LONG - almost 3 hours... and we have to go back again on Saturday, then we have to meet the community team. I'm not complaining though - we need the help and support.
Foxgloves - glad to hear you're feeling a bit better.
BB - Ally has some fantastic ideas there. I don't know how old your kids are but there's a fantastic periodic table colouring book that I often use with lower set year 8. If you're doing periodic table, that leads on nicely to the differences between elements and compounds and chemical reactionsThey're all a bit linked.
I have a worksheet I often use called Cartoon Elements, where you find the symbol for the elements listed and get the names of various cartoon characters. And if you want any of the stuff I use at school (for any of the sciences actually) then just send me a pm and I'll send whatever I can help with.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
