Thursday 7th January - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

I'm so relieved it's the "weekend". It's been a very long week at work up here in the frozen north. Anyway, I've been busy this morning already:

    *
Emailed employer as they've taken pension deductions from my wage and I've opted out of the pension scheme.

    * Had a 'breakfast' of yet more leftover homemade soup stretched with a wee drop of water.
I swear when I was a child my Father, who was a lone parent, used to make soup on a Monday and add to it and modify it throughout the week, it would last us five days.

    * Ordered OH's repeat prescription through mobile app for delivery to local pharmacy which is less time and travel intensive than trying to order it by phone and collect it.

    * Clean house with washable cloths and Stardrops. Take down mainly homemade Decemberfest decorations and store away for next year.

    * Read news online for free.

    * Watch tv recorded overnight.

    * Give myself a manicure.

    What's everyone else planning?

Yesterday the bank appointment was rescheduled by the bank due to member of staff being off!! Nightmare but can't be helped. My day went haywire after that I am Aspergers and sudden changes spin me out for hours:eek:, sometimes days. It's a nightmare but thankfully hubby was home to help me deal with it. He may be crap with money but good at dealing with my flat spins, hoorrahhh. :)

    Morning

Work this morning. Its wet again so the washing that was over the airer is in the tumbler, annoyed with myself for letting it pile up. DS2 needs a plain black t-shirt for his new job, found one for £2.20 from fleabay. Cleaning to do this aft, committee meeting tonight.

Ooh must take some chicken breast out of the freezer for tea, forgot last night.

Better wake DS up and get on! Have a good Monday everyone x

  • Good morning everyone!
Thanks for the start today Ally  I almost had heart failure thinking that it was only Monday Yorkshire :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I am off work today :j:j My dh is being discharged from hospital and there are a ton of meetings I need to go to first, plus I don't know what the emotional fall out will be like. I'm very fortunate in that my Head has been very understanding about me having time off for this. I have to confess that I'm shattered so a day off will be really helpful.
    Here's today's list
    :cheesy: check banking and PAD
:cheesy: today is definitely a spend day as it's grocery day and we'll need to pay for parking at the hospital. I need to plan my other spends like petrol and butcher so that I can bag more spend days.
:cheesy: make a list of questions to ask at our big meeting
:cheesy: find something for me and dh to do with our unexpected couple time if he's up to it
    :cheesy: pick up my prescription
:cheesy: steal Foxgloves idea of annoying list and getting stuff done from it
:cheesy: plan my lessons for next week (can't mark as I didn't bring any books home)
:cheesy: try to be assertive at this meeting
:cheesy: speak to the kids school about the current situation
    :cheesy: make time for exercise
    :cheesy: make time for crochet

I'd best get going - still need to get the kids to school so can't avoid the commute. See you later

    Morning, Peeps!

I'm feeling a bit more optimistic this morning, although it's a horrible cold, dark and wet day outside. Today I have already:

    - checked my bank accounts
    - reconciled my budget
    - checked my 'pending' transactions on my online banking

It appears, I think, that my EE contract is now cancelled. The last bill from them is going to be about £3. I have also been checking my GiffGaff usage on the phone app and I think next month I can get away with a much cheaper goodybag, as I'm not using anywhere near my data allowance on the £12 one (I thought I'd try the £12 one for the first month to see how it goes). To top it all off, I have just remembered that February and March are no council tax months! That's £109 I'll save in each month. More money to fire at the debt. Every penny counts!

Hope you are all staying safe in this horrible weather!

    Edit:

Forgot to mention I got another lovely pot for making loose tea for christmas. Brought it into work this morning (as we have a ton of them at home) with some lovely loose Earl Grey from the local tea shop - had a ton of it as well at home, so thought I may as well be drinking it at work. Lovely. :)
