    Another good point raised above.

Normally we do the 'big shop' at Asda. But on the occassion we do a Tesco Direct click n collect, we'll do the shop at Tesco after picking up the parcel.

    Not anymore!

This thread did me a favour, as I decided to check the site ( no mention there of future charges) and found some reduced items ideal for birthday gifts, so made my order while c&c is free.

My delivery's arrival notification email, doesn't mention new charges, either.

Yep, it attracts customers to spend while collecting items

Yes, I do not think I have ever collected an order and not spent something in store which I would not have done if not picking up from there.

well i got this email today too and i immediately thought thats rubbish!!!! i buy loads of cheaper items and have them delivered to store for free, thats one of the main reason for buying them from tesco, so i can collect them at my convenience for free, looks like im going to probably have to curb those impulse buys from now on or buy from somewhere else :( unlucky tesco, i think you are going to lose more than it was costing you to stick them in the back of a delivery van

I mentioned the new charge on collecting my parcel, today and the counter staff said they had just been discussing the short-sighted policy, which would lose a lot of casual in store shopping.

They also said they were wondering whether other supermarkets would be charging, too.

I have just had the email but it is worded differently as I did let my delivery saver lapse.

My email states that there is a minimum £10 spend for delivery saver customers. Has this always been the case?

I don't know if it's always been the case but mine said that too - I'm not a delivery saver customer.
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

Well I for one wont be using them as much and I nearly always buy extra when I go to collect, as a veggie they sell one of best vegetarian selections so I then tend to stock up rather than buy odds and ends in other shops and then I end up buying extra on top of deals and bread etc.

I think its very short sighted of them but end of day that's there choice.

I know Boots moved to £20 min order for free click & collect, but have now reverted back to no minimum spend. And they throw in next day collection (12pm onwards) for free if you order before the generous cut off time.
  • They're seriously going to need to get their act together once they start charging. An order I placed in November took well over a week. A DVD I ordered never arrived, and neither did it's replacement. I placed an order yesterday for a slow cooker which was due to be delivered to my local Express for collection after 3pm today but at almost 10pm it hasn't even been dispatched - I can expect it "in the next few days" according to a manager in Direct's customer service.

My recent experience with Tesco is click and collect delivered by Yodel next day, well packaged with bubblewrap and strong boxes.
    Cost free.

In contrast my home delivery order arrived in lots of separate flimsy boxes which were all badly squashed and ripped, inner packaging brown paper, no bubblewrap. Delivered over period of 4-5 days after ordering and a week later 4 items still not received, tracking just states at Hermes warehouse. Cost £3.

From now on I will only use click and collect. The £2 charge is going to be a big pain as sometimes it is not possible to make up a complete order before items go out of stock and by the time you go to pay they have all disappeared from the basket! Maybe Tesco should look at an alternative service with extended delivery time for click and collect and make that a free service, I certainly don't need to run to the shop the next day for my items.
