  • Hi folks, haven't done this challenge for years but really need to now as we are about to move into our new house and need to buy a washing machine, sofa, dishwasher and a fridge freezer!!
Please put me down for £200 for the month. That's for 2 adults and one nearly 2 year old.
I'm starting from absolute zero with completely empty cupboards and (when we get it) a completely empty fridge and freezer. I have a couple of tins, a bag of pasta and a few herbs and spices stashed at mums, but nothing major that would make many meals.
My month starts on the 1st march until the 31st.
    Wish me luck!!:rotfl:
  • Only £3.28 spent this weekend on bread and milk. Signature already updated :D x

    February GC £26.68/£250

    Please can I rejoin you.
My budget for 2 hungry adults 1 with allergies, 1 3 year old with even more allergies, 1 puppy and 1 dog and 1 goldfish, including all household items and deodorants etc is £62.50 per week

It's going to be a struggle but as of 1st March only 9 payments left until the end of our IVA and so I have to keep plugging away at it and making it work :)
Everything is always better after a cup of tea
  • Month starting with good stock in fridge, bursting freezer. I just need to show restraint and stick to a list.
My dd who is awesome at this will be away for a chunk of March so I may have to shop..... Addiction control required.
Fingers crossed I can do this.

Hopefully I can do it but the freezer and cupboards are not as stuffed as they were last month.
First shop of march today so will update when I get back.

Please could I change my budget to £250.00. I have decided to include the holiday food spend in here instead of separately as I will be getting a Mr S delivery before I go and it will be too messy to track.

Our store cupboards are low although the freezer has plenty of meat and frozen veg. Even DH commented on how much room there was in the larder yesterday!

We both want to improve our eating habits and are training for a half marathon so that will increase our costs a bit.

This resulted in a trip to C0xtc0 where a small fortune was spent on essentials yesterday  Most of the items (except fruit, onions, potatoes and bottled water) will last at least 6-12 months.

We have a Mr S delivery coming tonight with the items for a 2 week shop with a £10 off voucher.

I will need milk before the delivery comes as I forgot to pick some up yesterday and as I am working from home today will drink gallons of tea :)
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

My DD who is dieting said she had read of a way when you want or think you MUST eat or do something that's addictive.Clench your hand into a fist and say NO NO NO three times and the urge will pass :) I don't know how it works ,but she says it works for her :) and she has lost two stone;) Maybe it will work when you think you MUST get some shopping Nothing to lose in trying I guess.I think we are all in a way slightly compulsive shoppers

I know mine goes back to when I was small and my late Mum, because of WW2 rationing, always tried to keep a store of food in the larder and if she saw something for sale foodwise she would buy it irrespective of whether she needed it or not.

I know my cupboards and fridge freezer are full to bursting and since Christmas I have reined back on spending as I have soo much stuff in stock already.

This month I have cut my food spending by a third and have been trying to make serious inroads into my store cupboards.

March, fingers crossed, will be the same and I think I'd rather have the cash stashed away for my summer holiday than sitting on the shelf of my cupboards along with the rest of the food stores.
So give the fist clenching a go or better still just don't go anywhere near the high street or food shops maybe for a week and see what you can conjure up with what you have indoors already
    Good luck

Can you please put me down for £341 for March, that's a bit under the daily total I managed in Feb, but I know things will be tighter as I've got less food left over in the freezer & cupboards.

Wishing you all good luck with your March budgets.
  • Been to do my top up shop today, spent £27.36 in Aldee, that includes some new dessert spoons, cleaning stuff and loads of cereal. Think I got 7 boxes, so should last us at least a month, possibly two, as DH rarely eats it and obviously the little ones don't have a huge amount. Also got babies formula milk from C*-*p so spent £8.49 there.

  • Good first week's shop at L1dl and Sainsb. Total £74.47 so far.

DD asked for enchiladas again, I didn't have a pre-packed kit so made a substitute seasoning mix (googled a recipe), don't think she noticed the difference!

    Meals this week:
turkey meatballs and pasta (new attempt)
    thai green curry
    beef casserole and dumplings
    sausages, beans n baked potatoes
chicken leftovers special, maybe a pie...

Determined not to throw anything away!!
