You say your husband is self employed, but refer to his wages. If he has a contract OF service with them, then he is employed. If he has a contract to PROVIDE services i.e. he is paid by invoice for deliveries made, then he is self employed. If he gets wages, and is not paid by invoice, then he is employed by them and they cannot legally withold his wages for last week. The Wages Act covers this. I was HR Manager for my last company and we had drivers who supplied their own vans, but were on the payroll. If you want to pm me, I can 'talk' you through it. £700 is a mighty amount to give up, even if they are a bunch of poo and you can't wait to be rid of them.Everything in moderation..............including moderation..............0 -
Dia Dhibh!
Felt completed wiped out last night and was asleep almost as soon as I got into bed and slept until almost 11 this morning, feeling as if I haven't slept for a week and shaky most of the time. Have been reducing the AD tablets for almost 4 months and have been fine to date, GP says if I feel like this I should go straight back to full dosage for 30 days and then start again...can't bear to think of all that effort all over again, so will see how I feel later on and ring him if no better.....thought I would be off them by Christmas...Damn.
Frogga...good work on mortgage and overdraft...when OH gets a new (better paid!) job you will catch up no problem.

Afternoon all.
Hugs to Frogga, Julia P, DLB's oh, Cat, Smokey & everyone else I've forgotten or who wants them.
someone nearly ran under my car yesterday as I was pulling out of my road, I didn't realise it at the time, but his car had just been involved in an accident with a bus (it was his fault, travelling too fast & on wrong side of the road) he was doing a runner before the police arrived. Although the car was his, he had no tax, insurance etc, he gave him self up when he realised he'd left his phone in the car.
My DD has just phoned, she just had a scan, all is well & baby is probably a girl.
Hubby & I walked down to the local lock, to watch the boats going through, it's lovely & sunny, but the breeze is a bit brisk.
My new lodger has just emailed to say she is arriving at Gatwick at 8:35 Saturday morning, so I've sent her the train times & will meet her at Reading Station. Isn't it typical, hubby & I are going to a Wedding reception that day, so she'll be alone on her first night here.
Hope everyone has a good day
Hugs Hester

Iv so far managed to empty the pool clean and dry it and sort of fold it up, dh will have to fold it again later as i never can get it small enough to fit back in the box.
Changed the bedding and do 2 loads of washing.
But other that that iv been really lazy today, sat and watch a dvd with kids took a few photos ready for ebay listing, and got tuck shop ready as ds3 has a friendly footy match at 6pm.
Just hope rain holds off for match its too early to in the year to be dealing with muddy pitches and winter woolies and waterproofs, i have enough of that the rest of the year!!
Catch you all later

Lots of dust up my nose from moving furniture and stuff out of alcoves. No floor space left ! Not sure how we'll uncover the bed tonightHave found stuff to go through to declutter. Anyone know any good place to value/auction old dolls?

Hello, people! At w*** today - DH has taken the day off and taken the Small Penguins clay pigeon shooting. Anyone have a recipe for clay pigeons :rotfl: Failing that I have a chilli in the SC. We have a friend over from the States, so a bottle of red with it, even though it's a school night
For Frogga:Employer withholds money owed because employee gave incorrect notice
If an employee leaves without giving proper notice, the employer may try to withhold part or all of the money owed to the employee. In general, employers are not legally entitled to withhold money owed unless the employment contract allows for it. If the employer withholds wages or other sums owing, for example, holiday pay, the employee should make a claim to an employment tribunal for unlawful deduction from wages. An employee must raise a written grievance with her/his employer about an unlawful deduction of wages before s/he can make a claim for it to a tribunal.
If the employer has lost money because the employee has given insufficient notice, the employer must make a claim for this loss in the county court (sheriff court in Scotland). Employers cannot take a claim to an employment tribunal, they can only make a counter-claim to the tribunal if the employee has already made a claim for breach of contract but not if the employee's claim is under the Employment Rights Act.
An employer can take court action for damages against an employee who has not given proper or reasonable notice. To succeed, s/he must prove that s/he has suffered actual loss by the employee not working her/his notice. In practice this can be difficult and employers may not take such action.
Hugs to one and all - better get my nose back to that grindstone!

Afternoon all; I've just survived the dentist - had little white fillings on the top of six bottom teeth and, £264 (!!!) later, I have to say they look really good! I had worn them down quite a bit and the dentist said they needed doing so the cosmetic side of it is a bonus. Bad news is I need another filling so I'm booked in in October - this time, I'll need an injection! Yikes!!
Anyway, the dentist is in the next village so I treated myself to a wander round the charity shops there. I bought a friendship bracelet-making kit for 50p for my DGD, a knitted handbag and matching purse, also for DGD for 50p, a book called Instant Life Coach (200 Ways to be Your Brilliant Best!) for 45p and a white skirt for £3 so I'm quite pleased. I also bought some new knickers in Peacocks - I think their underwear is really good value; however, for the first time ever, they have a man on the till in there (rather a nice one, too) and, of course, I picked up a 3-pack of knickers that didn't have the price marked on them so the poor blushing man had to rummage through them looking for a barcode! He did it so delicately. The other assistants thought it was hysterical and didn't help. I can't wait to tell DH that a strange man had to rummage through my knickers this afternoon!
Anyway, that was today's thrill - helped me get over my trip to the dentist! I'm a bit nervous about the new fillings now - even though, as an ex-dental nurse, I know they're very strong, but I think I'll just have some soup for dinner tonight!
Well, off to get the washing off the line - another drying day but not as sunny as it should be!
See you all later.

Afternoon!
Just had a lazy hour watching last nights Silent Witness;) and then a quick read of my copy of Thrifty Ways for modern Days that I bought off Amazon, better late than never!:D really interesting so far!
Mum and sister seem to have made up(hopefully) now DS1(17) has got a strop on after I said he needs a full time job if he's not at college, he's currently working part time at Little Chef and I think he's wasting his life:mad: he doesn't seem to realise that he wont be able to run his car when the current insurance etc runs out(paid for by his Nan) as he's not saving anything but he wont listen:rolleyes: and like most teenagers he treats this place like a hotel:mad:
Anyway on top of that DH is not too well again - his back is still playing up and he's maxing out on the painkillers, am worried about him.
Hope everyone's ok and had a great day!
back later after slimming world
take care xxxDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Afternoon all!
Am just having a relax at the moment, have been tutoring and was given some fabulous books, so inspiring for Christmas presentsJust need to get some soap bases-anyone know of any good places to get them from?
Have been adding to the online shop order daily, nearly there now, so can sort that out for early next week, have my laminating sheets and have been a mad printing woman for all my stuff for the new job... all I need to do is order some ink now!
Can't wait for OH to wake up so I can do more hoovering, will be chilling out this afternoon and then this evening we'll crack on with some housework-not sure what we'll have for dinner, depends on the chicken meat defrosting! I've also gotta pack up the chicken soup I made the day before yesterday (don't worry, it has been in the fridge and the only smell is 'yum' at the moment!) for freezing
Hugs to those who need/want xx
