OS Daily 29 August 2007

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all.

I've been up since 4am - I'm all washed, dressed and packed to go into hospital for my operation. I'd murder for a cup of tea! Fingers crossed they don't cancel....

Looking forward to being back with you all very soon.

Julia xx

    Good morning everyone,

Julia - Good luck today xx

((HUGS)) to smokeybabe and family too xxx

Just had a really bad night, think im getting so worked up about not being able to sleep, its stopping me sleeping. Doesnt help that DD decides to come in to my room at 12, and then DS goes to the loo a couple of hours later!!! Hopefully i will get some sleep tonight, im starting to feel so tierd, i think all my body wants to do now is sleep = didnt stop me being wide awake at 5 tho!!!
Nothing major planned today, have 3 here today, but 2 are older so they tend to amuse themselves and sometimes even help with the Lo, so hopefully a nice day for us. Still a bit dark outside (where have all the light mornings gone!!??) but im sure the forecast is for nice weather.
Right, need more tea - hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Morning. I hope that Julia also fairs well under the knife today....

Not much going on here, work today and a taxi service for my kids this evening I think.
My daughter's hamster died yesterday and was burried in the small pets section of the garden. If there is ever an archeological dig in my garden they will wonder what the heck happened around these parts.
The pet shop gave her another one free as this one lasted a week. It was fed and watered and had a nice new cage, but for some reason died.

Well off to work... Cheers now

Mornng JULIAPENGUIN and AMIE and all who follow. Good Luck JULIA with the operation! (((hugs))) to SMOKYBABE and DH.

FROGGA - hope you sort something out today re your DH's wages. As soon as I got into bed last night I remembered that there is a sub-board on here called 'Employment and Job seeking' - if you post the problem there, I'm sure you'll get lots of advice especially about the fact that his wages have been withheld. Good luck.

Well, I woke up at about 4 o'clock - to go to the loo, of course! - made a cup of tea and took it back to bed then dozed off for another hour or so so I feel quite refreshed at the moment. I need to have a shower then spend the morning on paperwork which is now almost as bad as the ironing - it's always there!

I bought my first Jodi Picoult yesterday, called 'The Pact' (£2.99 from the new half-price bookstore in the village.) I've nearly finished the last Anne Tyler so will probably start it tonight. Jodi Picoult's books don't seem to end up in charity shops yet so I thought £2.99 was a good price and quite OS! I also have the dreaded dentist:eek:  at 2.30 - grrrreat!!

Well, off to have my shower now so see you all later.

    Morning all,

Good luck JP thinking of you. Smokeybabe ~ hope you OH is OK Heavenleigh ~ thanks xx you are a sweetie, must have taken ages to type !!!

When you read other peoples threads it makes you realise you problems are little ones and i feel bad for going on about aload of insignificant rubbish! Sorry:o Thanks for all of you who were concerned and offered advice. I was very touched , you made me croak xx

At least we have our health .

I will check with the CAB but we have been in this possition before and the census of opinion was it's "tough luck." DH signed a contract to do a particular round knowing he had to give 1 months notice. If he doesn't give notice it costs the company money , so they say , and therefore it is legitimate for them to hold back his wages to recover that cost!

DH's boss phoned last night in a very threatening manner basically saying " come back or you'll be VERY out of pocket" not only will they keep last weeks £700 wages but they will consider taking him to court to recover the rest of what it will cost them if he resigns. GREAT! talk about blackmail!

My DH said he would speak to me and then phone his boss back as it was a big decision and he wanted my opinion. He thought I would tell him he had to go back. I didn't. They don't deserve him. When he lost his Mum last year he was at the hospital after she had died at 2 in hte morning and then went to work at 6 so as not to let anyone down. He only had the afternoon of the funeral off ~ and they charged him for the fact that they had to employ a relief driver. Who would want to work for a company that treats people like that?

My DH phoned him back and said I agreed that why would he want to work for a company that was basically threatening our house , as without that £700 on friday I can't make this months mortgage payment. His answer? It's not personal it's business and don't take it out of context. He knows we have two dependent children. I hope he slept last night because I didn't!

Been up all night with a calculator ! How many of you have done that before?!:rotfl:

It will all come right in the end so I am suprising un worried at the mo. As long as we have each other , worse things happen at sea !:rotfl:

Just listening to the news about all the terrible things that have happened in the world today and it really puts things into perspective, hopping off to phone bank and mortgage co to see if I can sort anything out ~ wish me luck xx

Have a good day all xxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning All

Julia - good luck today. Thinking of you

Had MoneyMan round last night to sort out the mortgage again ready for the new flat. Should be able to keep the one from last time, so lower interest rate than if I started a new one. Have parted with the cash for the valuation and alike

Spent the evening flicking through magazines getting ideas for the flat - when I can actually move into it! Must get a new kitchen fitted before moving in though.

Got my payslip yesterday and where I was off sick, I've lost money. I don't think I should've done, as I'm meant to get four weeks full pay, and I was only off for three.

Really trying hard to think of a way of earning some extra cash. I've set up a paypal account so I can get money from lightspeed instead of having to get one of their prizes.

Hoping to book a trip to EuroDisney this weekend. My friend and I have both had bad years one way and another and both been messed around by horrible waste of space men, so we think we deserve it.

    Hope everyone's ok

    Good morning everybody,

I've just made some soap. :D I put some lavender oil & some from my fresh bush into it, so if I go to sleep in the shower I"ll blame Twink. DH home today so we're tackling upstairs cupboards. He's at work tomorrow so I'll tackle the boxes. Think I'll pack away the winter gear and bring out the summer stuff. The really cold weather has gone. :p

    Julia Hope all goes well.
Smoky Good luck for DH. Fingers crossed.
tiredmum Your dd's a star. Well done.
PenPen You have many talents. ;)
Twink Have a lovely time talking about OLD times. When will we see you again? :D

Welcome to bibbity & ((((hugs))) to those who need them. Byeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
