As said earlier, what they say is pretty vague, and what matters is how they implement this in practice, not what they say.
In practice in UK their 'statutory rights at no extra cost' work as a 2-yars' warranty if you buy directly from them. The only the "EU law" has to do with this is that they have decided not to give you runaround for 2 years, not 6 (that would be obviously unrealistic).0
