Hi guys and thankyou, I have to say the cake does look really good it's all iced and ready to go, I've filled the middle with skittles and m&ms, so when DD cuts into it they should all come tumbling out. I tried to upload a photo, but I'm rubbish and couldn't work it out.0

My nephew would love a cake full of skittkes!!!
Good luck with cutting the cake. Does DD know it's full of colour and sweets. I can just imagine how amazing it will be to cut it open and see all of that coloured sponge and sweets on the inside.
Let us know how it goes and have a lively time at the restaurant.0 -

Morning all.
DD had a lovely birthday, we spent the day shopping as she got lots of money, although she didn't spend it all. She decided she didn't want to go out for a meal last night and wanted Chinese takeaway instead as she said she was too tired from walking around the shopping centre all day, she loved her cake and DS and D have requested one for their next birthdays. I spent about £30 on myself yesterday bought work clothes in the sale that are much needed got some flat pumps, trousers and a skirt.
Today we are having a day at home as we need to have a mass tidyup, seem to have cobwebs everywhere, so have a mad dust round.
Eating from stores today, breakfast has been toast/cereal, lunch will be sandwiches and fruit and tea will be cottage pie and left over cake for pud.
Not much happening in debt busting, need to see what needs paying this week and how much money I have left as we need a small grocery shop doing.0 -
Sounds like you had a lovely birthday for DD, Penny. At least DD wanted to have a takeaway instead of a restaurant, as takeaways do generally work out cheaper (hope this was the case for you).
Your new clothes sounds nice, enjoy wearing them.0 -

I didn't use an online recipe, jjust made 3 layers of a basic sponge in different colours, the first 2 layers you need to cut out the centre using a pasty cutter, sandwich the first 2 layers together and fill the hole with sweets, then add the top layer and then pipe buttercream all over I swirls, it honestly is dead easy to make but looks amazing, there are loads of examples of pinterest.0 -
Thankyou for all the birthday wishes for DD, she had a wonderful birthday, last night she had a sleepover with friends, although not much sleep seems to have gone on.
I have sat and looked at finances for next month, it all looks ok on paper and everything seems to be heading in the right direction.
Wondering what to do about food shopping, I love shopping at ald1 a the prices are so good, but I feel as though I have less and less time each week to fit everything in and I'm just wondering if I would be better off doing an online shop and freeing up some time for me. Morrisons have just started doing a delivery shop to my area but its not a store I'm that familiar with, have been in on the odd occasion but never done a big shop with them, are they good value?, whats the fresh produce like? have had a look online and their prices seem reasonable compared to sainsburys. I may do one shop and see what I think!
Plans for today are blitz the house once the visitors have left, DS has a friend coming over for the afternoon, make some cakes as the girls have eaten everything in sight, doing a roast for tea tonight, not sure whether to make a choc brownies for pud.
Tomorrow night we are out fo a family meal for MIL birthday although her birthday isn't for another week, its the only time all the family can get together so more expense. But I'm sure we will have a lovely time.
Sunday should be a quiet day, kids need to make sure all there homework is done and I need to make sure I have everything up to date for work, DH is off work so hopefully we can get ot somewhere for a couple of hours and have a walk (weather dependent).
Hope everyone is ok.x.0
