Just search for Edinburgh or Glasgow as Westie says and pick a random branch. You do not need to live in Scotland, helped a family member open one a few weeks and that's what we did.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. If you can't be the best -
Just be better than you were yesterday.0 -
We live in the midlands won't bore you with the details but our RBS account is with their Edinburgh head office branch0

They may ask for ID confirmation before they open the account. they did with me.
You can of course provide this at any Halifax branch in England - they will forward it on.0 -
BOS products are primarily aimed at the Scottish market.
Do you think they are actively seeking (unprofitable) business paying interest 2.5% above the base rate?!I have 3 BOS accounts and tried to open a donor account yesterday and also got stuck on the location... Apparently you need to put a scottish postcode in - odd. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The same happens if you live in Scotland and want to open a LLoyds account.
Was also the same with Halifax as all their branches became BOS.
Now they have started re-opening actual Halifax branches in a few places. Have seen one in Glasgow and one in Aberdeen, I expect they have one in Edinburgh too.0 -
Halifax is the 'challenger' brand.
BOS & Lloyds are the established 'old' banks, in their parts of the UK.
Lloyds don't actively market in Scotland & vice-versa.jennifernil wrote: »The same happens if you live in Scotland and want to open a LLoyds account.
