    Morning MMMers's

Make Do : Bought some woopsied Seed potatoes in Morrisons for 10p a pack. So have planted them up in containers in the garden. (I emptied the old compost into holes in the lawn, made by our naughty dog). They may have sprouted too much, but thought it was worth a go! Felt like Mark Watney in the Martian :rotfl:

Mend: I haven't really mended anything, but I did use an old rush shopping basket, lined with a bin bag, as a container for some of the seed potatoes.

Minimise: Emptied the contents of my bedside draw onto the bed. Filled a beach bag with BNIB cosmetics! (Minimising task for another day!). Found a bracelet I have been looking for. Edited down the pens, scissors, etc, filed several bits of junk to the bin and lots of spare buttons to the sewing box. :j

DD back from Skiing. Bit of a traumatic journey back, but safe and well. First load of holiday washing in the machine!

Have a lovely day. HE x

    Morning everyone

Siebrie - I hope your friends enjoyed your gift, you did put thought into it.
    HE - that's a super bargain.
Not much MMM here as I have been busy, although I minimised a pint of blood at the blood donation van.
My friend is coming to stay for the weekend with her girls (8,6), they are beautifully low maintenance and it won't be a costly weekend, but we will have lots of fun. Last time we made skirts from my fabric stash to their designs for them to wear. Hours of fun and not a tv in sight!
I have loads in the freezer so it will be dinner from there.

My appointment at the physio seemed to go well. They gave me a cortisone injection and my knee feels much better. The sun is shining so I'm determined to go out for a pain free walk today: T
Mrs Moneypenny: I remember the elastic mitts well and did the same for my two DD's. They did look funny but we never lost a pair. My SIL did the same with her two and then the school asked her not to do it as they said they were a hazard: the boys could get the elastic caught around their neck or they could be pulled by the other children and hit the boys in the face. I wonder sometimes how any of us made it to adulthood!

Mending: OH told me he had lost his phone. We found it in his jacket lining - he had a hole in his pocket. I'm still trying to work out how he didn't notice! There's also some trousers he wants taking up.
Make do: I was watching the 'How old are you' programme on TV the other night with Angel Rippon and though we might try eating more vegetarian food. So I went through a few recipe books/mags yesterday and came across with Hearty Tuscan bean soup. I had all the ingredients in: onion, wilting celery, couple of carrots, a quarter of a cabbage, tins of tomatoes and mixed beans and grilled to a crisp some parma ham left in the fridge. It was delicious and there is enough for today. I might try pea and mint falafels today.
Minimising: Today's minimising task is to fill a carrier bag with books I no longer want for the charity shop.

Yes 1/4 inch flat elastic. If it's sewn across the back of the neck they shouldn't get it round their neck. Or you could sew shorter pieces direct to the cuffs of the coat so they are just at the wrist.

Elf and safety has a lot to answer for sometimes, lol like you say it's amazing we survived to adulthood savingpennies. I think it gave us a bit of common Sen as we were allowed to think for ourselves and occasionally took risks that we learned from.

Sorting a load of stuff I'm giving away to family today as I'm seeing them at DGS birthday party so I can hopefully minimise it onto them.

Making some veggie tarts using some puff pastry I had in to take with me as well.

    Have a lovely day all.

Having a busy but strangely unproductive weekend so far.

I must confess that it didn't help that I was slightly hungover on Saturday morning after one too many glasses of wine on Friday night. I had another stressful week at work and by Friday I just needed to eat (and drink!) my feelings - not the solution, so I have resolved to minimise the stress instead. I was trying to hang on until retirement but the workload is unmanageable.

Other minimising jobs this afternoon are
    - minimising the front hedge
    - minimising the ironing mountain

Mending - spotted a thin patch on the sheet when changing the bed this morning so will need to get that sorted before it goes into the washer and have a pair of socks that I will darn 'a la Grey-Queen' style while watching the TV tonight

Just going to hang out my fourth load of washing in the glorious sunshine so 'making do' without the tumble drier

    Evening mmmers,
Had a sort of lazy/busy day, watched DVDs/Netflix while knitting and sorting stuff.
Pleased that most of the stuff I took out with me yesterday stay out which was I consider a very good result.

Weather has been good so lots of washing dry. Going to go and make do with some left overs for tea, then by the time I've done pack ups it will be time for the Durrells

    Hope everyone is well

Just read a full page article in today's mail " why we need to chuck out the crazy fad for decluttering" it's actually quite interesting and apart from the title what most of us on this thread aspire to. The title implies that we should continue hoarding like there's no tomorrow but when you actually read the article it's saying we shouldn't be constantly striving for new but should be happy with what we have and be prepared to pair and adapt rather than bin and replace. It says how mending things is a drying art and no one has the time or inclination to mend things anymore, and we should be doing that instead of chucking out and buying new all the time, is Jane shilling a member of this thread because most of what she's written comes from the ethos of this thread?

Almost finished the throw I'm making dd2 from a couple of bin bags of her old Tshirts I backed it with an old no longer used throw.

It is huge, measuring about 7x9 feet! But it has repurposed about 3 black bags full of things that would have just sat in the bottom of wardrobes or ottomans being unuseful and waiting to die in storage.

    Good afternoon MMMers
It's a lovely sunny day here so more washing has made its way to the line outside. The dogs throw from our dog sitting over the last few weeks, don't when she will be next here so it's washed and put away until next time.
I've collected some more baby bargains off eBay.
No mending to be done here at the moment, but the eBay items are make do and I've minimised the dog taking her back home.
Hugs to all those that need one. x
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

charlies-aunt: My heart went out to you when I read this. That was me last October, a week after half term. I was fine on Friday but woke up Saturday morning and cried and just couldn't stop because I knew I had to go to work on Monday. OH found me and said that enough was enough - I'd paid my dues and now I had to leave. My doctor diagnosed work related stress and I have never been back since. I was trying to hang on until DD2 graduated this summer but clearly couldn't. I've retired two years early but what the hec, I feel like I have a new lease of life. I sleep ALL night, something I haven't done for years and just feel soooo much better. I hope you feel better soon and make the right decision for you.

    Hi MMMers,

Not a lot of MMMing has been done here this weekend - a day out on Friday followed by a meal at a friends, hungover on Saturday :o followed by evening at the in-laws, then a wedding yesterday.

However, envelopes came today for me to recycle some ink cartridges so that's on my to-do list for tomorrow, along with finally getting to the charity shop and clothes recycling (all a five minutes walk away, I've just had a lazy day today - late night last night!). Also need to minimise the carp on the dining table - it was so embarrassing when the window cleaner turned up this morning! No mending recently, but will get on with that dishcloth soon... I'm terrible aren't I? Maybe you should kick me out! :)

Hope things start to improve for those of you having a difficult time.
