Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2016

Hi All,
LynnP that sounds like a lovely trip! I love Germany, but their cuisine is rather limiting when you're a pescatarian (sticking to river fish and cheese gets a bit much!).
Still making do with the remaining veg in fridge - curry tonight with already opened TM paste, opened creamed coconut etc.
A lady was meant to come on Sunday for some paint tester pots I'd put on freecycle.... she didn't turn up so I sent her a quick polite message yesterday asking if she still wanted them and got a diatribe back that she'd been, we weren't in AND (her caps!) she couldn't find front door (how did she come to be here then?!) and she didn't need them any more as they'd bought some paint now. We were here all day, I'd said come to the back door (as that's where the road is) and I'd also said that if we weren't in I'd leave them on back doorstep..... I was rather peeved with her rude reply - I think people forget they're getting something for nothing sometimes. Anyway, will repost them today, so hopefully they'll be minimised soon. Also got a top for the charity shop and some stuff for the clothes recycling... need to get both out of the house!
Still 'mending' the doors in the hallway - another three panes in last night (DH had a headache and hammering near glass isn't conducive to reducing said headache!).
Have a good day all!

Hi all....we are expecting a second baby so doing all three at the moment.
Make do: Took out some of our eldest newborn babygrows all read to go for no 2 still in good condition. Threw out a few bags and found 2 mac lipsticks still like new - WIN!
Minimise: Got rid of a few things in the attic to make room for further storage we are going to need that!
Mend: OH fixed a number of things this weekend -a bobble that came off a hat, shelves fixed so we have more storage, sewed on a few buttons, sewed and mended a bra'Never give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about';):)0 -
Really fancy making some good, big, hand knitted dishcloths to replace the more-holey-than-godly stockinette ones currently in use. If they turn out okay - I will make some to go in my HM Christmas Hampers (apologies for use of the C-word)
Please could someone let me know what type of yarn to buy?
Many thanks:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Hi Charlies-Aunt,
I think any cotton yarn would do - that's what I use. I'd never thought of making them as Christmas presents... although I tend to get funny looks when I tell people what I'm knitting! This is the pattern I use - it's dead simple: http://delightfullysimple.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/diy-monday-knitting-dishcloth-beginners.html.
Hope that helps!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Good evening fellow MMMer's
I'm back on DGS duty tomorrow so I've been trying to get everything done before I go back to 4 days a week childcare. I've got tomorrow evening meal on I'm doing corned beef hash, we have the stew type not the mash potato one.
I'm returning the Pram I've been cleaning for DD it's all done and like new, she asked how it was going I sure she will be pleased with it.
Still knitting the 4 ply dress from friends future DGD. I will be minimising DD holiday washing for the next few days too. xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -

Evening Mrs M.
I missed out on the day trip too, my excuse is I have been to London for work today and it's a flying visit before rehearsal and dealing with my mums issues with her drains and the people who came to "fix" it leaving it even more blocked and trying to charge the best part of £2000 for the privilege! I suspect they saw little old lady and thought oh good! Luckily she had called CAB to ask for advice so that will be tomorrow's job while working from home.
Made do with home made ready meals - cannelloni and beef and ginger I had one oh had the other
Mend - Mum's drain tomorrow hopefully
Minimise - well the seeds that I chucked into pots are growing. I had minimised the packets but the warm weather has maximised their growth, so I will be minimising bags of compost and pots soon. I Reckon that counts despite it being a tenuous link!

Good evening and I hope everyone has got back safely from the meet up.
I've been looking after DGS when I collected him from nursery at noon. Prior to that I was running around like an headless chicken I did 2 loads of holiday washing, ironed and put away the washing that DD had already done.
I was glad that I'd already cooked evening meal last night and it just needed warming up.
Hugs to all that need one xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
Hi all, will have a read back at what everyone has been up to tomorrow, really struggling to find time to read and post at the moment. Not much MMMimg going on here recently
however a day off today so have managed to clean the flat and catch up on the washing/ironing. Popped to the supermarket earlier to buy fruit and milk, ended up getting some good YS bargains too so had to rearrange the freezer to get everything to fit. Must start minimising the freezer contents. Hope everyone is well.
