    Hello MMMer's
DGS had his PSB jabs on Tuesday and he was abit off it yesterday but during the night he vomitted so no nursery today, luckily it's DD day off work but we were going to the hospital and then to return a dress. That idea had to be cancelled and I've had to keep away in case it's a bug due to my diabetes I could be really ill if it is a bug. So knitting has been the order of the day.
I forgot to mention I managed to get 7 small jars ( I reuse some English Provender former chutney jars) I will know what it's like in approx 4 weeks total cost for all 7 jars 69p plus an hours low heat gas. The oven dried cherry toms look good too, they work out at £1.12 for a kilo and I've got 3 jars worth.
It's been a horrid day here wind, hale stones, black clouds all day and much cooler.
Hugs to all those who need one x

    Hello all

was really pleased with self yesterday - after day at work, came home and sorted kids' tea, hoovered whole downstairs of house and baked cake (as my turn to take snacks for work mtg tomorrow). Just wish I had that energy every day - the house would be spotless!

Need to get on with taking down (having previously taken up) DS's PE jogger bottoms - they were too long hence taken up but in less that a year, now too short, so undoing the hems - but not so easy as had to unpick some of the elastic to take them up so now need to re-sew the elastic.

Also have stack of Beavers/Cubs badges to sew on - they've not been doing it long and already have a lot of badges - in my day we had to do quite a few weeks' work to get a badge, but one week DS just made some pizza at Beavers and as a result now has his 'international' badge!

I feel down the last few weeks, there is too much to do, and the colleague who I shared the job with has been promoted. I am not jealous, she deserves it, I want to stay at my level, because one level up means they give you a company car in exchange for your soul (no fixed working hours, available evenings, weekend, and holidays). I have parental leave on Wednesdays, and the work is just too much for four days per week. We have tried finding someone for one day per week, but HR cannot seem to find anyone in Brussels :( Before, when it was just 'a lot' it was fine, I would just do whatever was most urgent, or whatever I fancied most; now, there is so much, I don't do anything, completely overwhelmed. Pffft, sorry about the selfpity post. Maybe it helps if I find my iron tablets again...

Forgot to add the reason for this post: my dds are at my parents' for the week, giving my dh and me three uninterrupted evenings of getting the house back into shape and doing some uninterrupted diy. Two evenings have passed, and we have done s.d all. Grrrrr! No mending, no minimising, no making-do :(

Siebrie - I really hope you are ok and have some help with work - I went through a prolonged phase like this (plus had lots of negatives at home too) and nearly had a breakdown, but luckily was able to access some counselling through work and they taught me about how to say 'No'! (among other things!). I've seem from your later post that things have eased up a bit, but remember you're a human being, because sometimes other people forget that, and look after yourself and your family first and foremost!

    Morning MMM's,

    Yesterdays' MMM's

Make Do: Had tea out of the freezer... Pie, roast potatoes and frozen veg. (I have been practicing some Jamie Oliver 15 min meals, so we can have more interesting home cooking when I get home from work, but decided to have an evening off!).

Minimise Cleaned the surface of the kitchen island and minimised the 'Tut' lying around. Lots of bits of paper to the bin and pens returned to the pen pot etc!

Mend Watched a Downton Abbey with DH, and continued sewing the border of a memory quilt. The quilt was made by a group of my students last year. incorporating a poem, memories and found items from our old school site. I was supposed to finish embroidering the border during the summer hols, but didn't get around to it. :( The plan is to display it in our new school building, so need to get it finished before some of those students leave school this summer:eek:

DD home from skiing tonight......washing pile to minimise!

Have a great day! HE x

    Morning all

Just folded up all the washing and noticed that one of my favourite work tops has a small hole on the sleeve so will mend that over the weekend. I'm sure OH mentioned that one of his shirts needed a button sewing on so will hunt that down.

I've been minimising some toiletries - used up a face mask that I got for christmas and cut the top off a body lotion so that I get the last out. I've a couple of hand creams that I need to do this to as well.

I'll eat at work this evening as I'm working until 7pm so have taken out some chilli mince out of the freezer for OH to have for his tea. Really need to minimise the freezer contents as I literally can't fit anything else in.

Hope everyone has a good day :D

Was going to use up 3 lemons in the fridge yesterday for a drizzle cake but realised I also had a tub of apples I'd defrosted a few days ago still there and they wouldn't last much longer so dug out a Mary Berry recipe for Danish Apple cake. Turned out very well so it's a recipe I'll use again. It makes a good sized cake so I'll freeze half of it. Didn't have enough eggs to do the drizzle so mayvdo that today. Need to dust downstairs and wash kitchen floor as its minging!!!
Not much mending or making do going on at the moment though
Have a good day all x

Good morning MMMers, I'm at DD looking after DGS we've decided he needs to be off nursery after the sickness yesterday. He must be feeling better because he's asked for an ice cream and a packet of crisps. So I don't think I'll get much housework done, a line of washing is pegged out mainly items he'd vomitted on yesterday. A duvet day and videos is the call if the day me thinks. x

Thanks, Wildthing01, I went to bed early a few nights, and that helped, too! DH gave the house a deep clean, we had easy dinners (freezer / fries / pizza), I focused on a few jobs that bothered me most at work, and it all seems to have calmed down a bit now.

Wednesday we received an invitation to a 10-year wedding anniversary garden party tonight straight after work. No time to buy any gifts; besides, it's a 'pewter' anniversary, what could you possibly give? So I have decided to buy 4 bunches of tulips in A.ldi, mix them and put them in a new pot someone gave me, but I don't like, wrap in clear wrapping paper and some nice florist string. I have a bottle of champagne lying about, too, so will give them that as well. My former boss used to give everyone in the department a specialty bottle every Christmas, but I don't like champagne. Wonderful making do / kondoing :)

From memory serena my mum used to use 1/4 elastic long enough to run down each sleeve with the glove just appearing at the bottom then She used to catch sew it along the back of the neck so we didn't get tangled in it or risk them slipping out.
    HTH

Thanks Mrs Moneypenny that is really helpful will get hold of some elastic I am assuming thats the 1/4 inch flat elastic? Thanks again :):)
