Fab to see you back Viv glad to hear about the business and DB. Looking forward to some yummy recipes on your return :)

Today I've had a day off so have been minimising the ironing pile plus cleaning the flat. Haven't got round to doing the mending yet but have identified a few other items so need to get that done at some point. Tea tonight was YS ribs with wedges, HM onion rings and YS coleslaw so a very yummy tea for a small price. Trying to use up a few more bits from the freezer so tomorrow night for tea OH will have spaghetti bolognaise (only 1 portion of bolognaise left in the freezer) and I've taken out some prawns for me which I use up in a stirfry or risotto.

    Morning mmmers
Hope everyone is as well as can be
Have a lovely time in Italy viv.

Made do with tin of Tom soup as base for the sauce when I made lasagne last night as we have a few to use up.
Minimising a few packs of seeds into school for the classes raised beds
Promised the teacher I'll make a few super hero capes for role play over the weekend so that will use up a bit of my stash.
Busy all day today but plan to start them tonight.

I have minimised my magazine stash by going through all my stitching a and crafting mags and found a load I'm not going to use so I'll happily donTe them to the CS.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all.
    Have a lovely trip Viv.

I have a day off today, I had been working many more hours than I should since my boss left, and decided that a day off to use some of them would keep my sanity, and the world shouldn't stop if i am not there.
    So today I shall:
Do 2 15 min clean ups....it's the only way I can motivate myself
Pot on my seedlings in the greenhouse
Find rubble bags, dustpan and brush and pop in car to take to my dads flat tomorrow-the ceiling in the bathroom came down and although it's being sold at auction I want it to look respectable.
Sort through and recycle some of my old jam jars...I won some last night at the WI so they can replace the older ones
Find my Skype password and username so I can take part in a call to earn some vouchers
Make supper from stores - probably sausage and mash or toad in the hole.
I think those cover the mmm for today, and I shall see if anything else gets done

    Have a lovely day

  • Moring all.
Not much MMM going on here at the moment. It was my birthday this week so I went out for a delish lunch with OH, mum and DD1 (DD2 away on a field trip this week). I've also been back to the doctors with the knee to get pain killers.
But today I'm back on the wagon.
Make do: HM pizza for tea using up leftover mushrooms, rocket and red onions.
Mending: some odd bits of sewing, particularly a blouse I have which has a button that keeps coming undone and revealing more than just a bit of cleavage!
Minimise: still sorting through books for the charity shop.
I'm sowing some more seeds in the greenhouse later and going to cover my little patch with fleece to keep the seedlings warm and stop whatever it is from eating them!
    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning MMMer's
I'm having a day off too, it must be the weekend feeling. I wish it was DGS has had D&V and as you are all aware we look after him while mummy works. Well during the night DH started with it and we'd been very careful washing hands and then using hand gel. I've been up most of the night as DH has mobility issues this is the one time that I'm glad Roo has gone to the toss pot of a Dad he has for the weekend.
Dinner is HM curry which I think only me will be eating.
Hugs to all those that need one x

  • Holidays here and fighting a losing battle with the spending.

We're staying with family, so certainly a cheap getaway, but we're going out and doing things in a group which leads to spending because I don't want to be the one who always says we can't do things.

Anyway, back to work next week and want to struggle through to pay day on the 26th with a nice new budget to crack on with.

Sorry to read of those who have been ill or in pain. I hope you all have a brighter, better day today.

Mum2monkeys, you can regain some of your money spent by doing cheap meals when you get back. Enjoy the break.

    Hiya y'all!!!

Over this Easter 'hols' I have had a wonderful but exhausting time! Firstly I went on my annual trip to Belgium (except this year we actually stayed in Dusseldorf and popped into Belgium) - this a long weekend and I just get on a coach - sit back and let someone else do everything for me! brilliant!

On my return I had a day to wash clothes, gather wits, answer post from solicitors (re my house move), check e-mail etc and then drove a car full of stuff down to Hastings where my son lives (so I dont have to move it with me!) and then drive back on day 3.

The next day my life long friend from Cornwall came up (for a last visit before I moved) for a week!

Im knackered!!! But for the first and last sections of the Easter 'hols' it was sure a lesson in 'how the other half live!!!' Shopping - endless amounts of it. Eating and drinking - endless amounts of it!! Goodness me!! Where I would have been happy with a sani or a croque monseiur - the folks on the coach trip were eating 2 huge meals a day AND stuffing all they could at the breakfast buffet! My friend who visited never had a cuppa without something to eat with it and lorks could she shop! For hours and hours! I did succumb to a top in the sale rail in the end ( £7) which I really did not need! She purchased at least 4 tops and one pair of trousers! Plus a new pestle and mortar and other sundry bits!
I managed to feed friend and me for £29 (L!dil) so was pleased at that :) I also stuck to my guns a bit over what type of meal I would eat therefore I came back from Europe with 20 euros change - which, again, I was pleased about. :j

Today has been the first day I have not been working since the hols and am n ow back to my frugal and quieter ways! Which is a bit of a relief after all the excitement!

I loved the boat trip we had in Dusseldorf and managed the climb of 533 steps to the top of Cologne Cathedral (fab views from up there!). But my fondest memory was of the few hours in Ghent - such a pretty city with a fantastic atmosphere! And great beer!
With my friend we visited Wadesddon Manor for a day; Dunstable Downs; The Buddhist temple in Mk; Northampton (shopping but not as you know it - in St Giles's Street - try St Giles's cheese if you are there (they sell more than cheese and its fab!) and Abraxus (a kitchen wear shop - everytime I go in there is a kitchen gadget which I dont know what it does - amazing) So we were v busy!
So will be miminising left overs: mash will become tuna fishcakes; cheese will be slowly savoured with salads for lunch.
Make do :- with wonderful memories and some quiet time rather than rushing arround
Mend:- need to mend a skirt that I found while turning out - it is a very full hippy type skirt and the hem is torn so that will keep me out of mischief for a while LOL
Sorry for long post but hope some of it interested you!
    Viv - enjoy Italy
Hugs to those coping with illnesses
    Back to frugalling on! :D

Yippee, I managed to do everything on my list and OH and I moved a massive pile o rotting wood at mums. Her garden is starting to look better now.
We also got the next bits of wood to raise my raised beds in the veg garden from the local wood yard, so although we spent out, it was far cheaper and better quality than DIY stores near here. They will be Sundays project as OH is watching football tomorrow and I am tidying my dads flat and seeing the estate agent to get it in the market.

Right ought to be learning lines for tonight's rehearsal, but this is a good way to procrastinate!

Well I wondered what had happened to the thread. It seemed a bit strange for it to just stop but I stopped getting updates. Would you believe nearly two weeks and I thought it was just a few days.

I don't know what happened but I signed up again. Sure I am still signed up for this thread because I have never signed up for 6.

Glad to find you all as busy as ever. I missed you late night posts Lyn. It does not look like I actually missed any.
