Candygirl The full recipe has a few other bits and pieces in , but I it's so quick with the basics it's my go to when I'm too tired to make much effort . She adds cheese and I can't imagine cheese and onion gravy together - but that's probably just me .
You can get it on google I think it's fiery sausages with tragedy mash .
    polly

I adapted it, n did spuds, n cabbage simmered, then drained n mashed with butter, chilli flakes n cheese, n topped with beetroot.Sounds weird, but i'm veggie n was craving cabbage :p

These all sound fabulous recipes to use up stuff with I made some chilli mash yesterday to have with my tiny bit of steak and bangers from the freezer. On the odd occasion that I go into Sainsburys and buy their aberdeen angus steak (usually when its on special offer as its just perfect steak but costs a fortune :):))They often will offer you a flavoured butter for free.If I am not going to use it I freeze and save it up in a box in the freezer and when there is enough I bung it into mashed potato to flavour it (it is a freebie after all :))I have had herb and garlic butter, chilli and a delicious lemon butter all saved up at various times and eventually used to make mash with a bit of a kick :)

I made some more squares for my charity blankets yesterday, and DD and I minimised two big pots of coffee in the afternoon.

I am still making do from my freezer and used up some of the head of broccoli last night with my dinner along with some green beans from the freezer.

its all slowly being used up :):):)

JackieO I use those butters in a HM garlic type bread and just use the different flavours. Being an oldie I've got the cheek to ask for extra and I a thank you and a granny smile. The younger person behind the counter always obliges and if it the end of the day they give you loads. They go into a container and sit in the freezer until needed.

    Afternoon all ;)

Make do - not sure what we're having for tea tonight as we had a FHB at the sailing club. Will cobble something from cupboards/fridge/freezer.
Mend - Turning the collar on one of DH's favourite denim shirts as there's plenty of wear left in it. Turning up the hem of a dress for a friend to take on her holiday and sewing up the 'jackets' on my boat fenders.
Minimise - 1 large garden cushion, some spare rope and some pot feet to DS1 and a paperback to a friend.
Need to tidy the back bedroom as I was storing my boat cushions on the bed - my cat is disgusted with me as she'd made herself a nice little 'nest' in the middle & as I've dismantled it I keep getting dirty looks lol. I'm hoping the weather stays dry for to borrow as I'd like to get my potatoes planted and some seeds started off.
Have a good evening all x

Minimised loads of food over the weekend as it was d2s birthday and we seem to have had a constant houseful of hungry people.
Minimised some money at b&q this morning on compost so I've planted loads of seeds and some potatoes.
Mended mils clock that she dropped off the wall when changing the time the other weekend, also mended a picture frame the back had come off.

Doesn't really look a lot now I've written it down but I feel like I've been busy.

    Hope all are well.

    Hello all you MMMer's
I've managed to get 2kg of cherry tomatoes for 24p so tomorrow's job is going to be oven dried tomatoes and tomato relish. 1 and ahalf kg of parsnips for 8p so they will be roast whilst the oven is on and then frozen.
I'm currently knitting a 4ply baby dress for my friends daughters soon to been born baby.

What a beautiful day it has been today! - line dried three loads of washing - minimising my leccie bill.

Making do - used some leftover underlay to line the feral cat's bed in the shed

Mending - shortened the bracelet length sleeves to short sleeves on a summer top and replaced the hanging loop on my dressing gown

    Have a lovely evening everyone

    Hi MMM' s.

My goodness, you have all been busy whilst I've been away! :D
It's been two weeks of sorting, packing, storing and recycling for my friends house move! I'm shattered!:o
We took so many boxes and bags to the charity shop I lost count! The storage items are there to carboot, plus, a few things he isn't sure what to do with. He has the storage for three months, so by then he should decide what to do.:)
I've been mending curtains , cushions and the elastic on a mattress protector.;)

So although I've been a absent on here,I've still been busy MMM. Must be in the blood!:rotfl:

Hi MMMers, hope you all had a good weekend - the weather was lovely here! FunBrum, your last two weeks were exhausting just reading about them!

I minimised some more bread flour yesterday and now have two loaves to last the week (ran out of white, so chucked some wholemeal in - I suppose that's making do, although I quite often mix them up a bit). Hopefully this will also minimise DH's lunch spends this week.

Carried on with my dishcloth knitting - still haven't completed the one mentioned earlier in the week - I'm not as prolific as some of you!

We had a bit of a tidy up of our pond at the weekend - finally potted up a lily that had been sat there waiting for some TLC. The fact that it was showing signs of growth was promising. It's been planted using proper hessian (DH refused to spend £3 on a small square, so bought enough to last a lifetime on ebay for £8!) - last time we did this I had an old hessian shopping bag that had broken - I stripped the plastic lining off and used what was left to line the pot, one of my finest making do moments!

On the mending front, we're decorating the hall and have painted the doors - which have glass panes (small ones) in them - these were covered with brown stain (and white paint), so last weekend took them out and cleaned them - putting them back in this weekend was a nightmare, only two panes back in so far! I strongly recommend not taking them out in the first place! However, doors look SO much better for the paint and clean.

Still eating out of cupboards and freezer, using up veg - tonight we'll finish the cabbage and cider opened last week - roasted cabbage in cider is delish!

    Have a good day all!

i think we are sisters under the skin HOWMUCH. I agree a nice 'Granny smile and thank you' goes a long way in a shop.

I always try to chat to the assistants as they do a difficult job dealing with the public and a little bit of happy chat brightens everyone up .Gets you a lot further than moaning and grumbling :):):)
