I have made a decision to NEVER feel guilty about buying anything. A bit like eating chocolate or cake, I am going to make the decision to have it or not have it. If I decide to have it, then I will enjoy it with gratitude. Have a great weekend all of you :j

Good attitude Rowan - I try to take that approach myself & on that theme - I wore my Fly sandals today & love them. They made me feel so much more "put together" with them on rather than my FitFlops (although I do also love my FitFlops for comfort) & so tall :D

Bought some much needed new exercise clothes, a top, a jacket, jogging bottoms and 2 sports bras for 45 pounds. Most I've spent all year on clothes I think, but I'm very happy.

Need to share: I've been de-cluttering clothes this morning. I have a bag of 20 good quality items to go to the Charity Shop (most of them came from there originally). My wardrobe & 2 chests of drawers are still full as is the coat / bag stand in the hall. That's with just my Spring / Summer clothes - all my Autumn / Winter Clothes are stored in the loft. How can this be???

The de-cluttering book I read on holiday said that the average American woman (I'm not American the book is) in 1930 had 9 outfits and today has 30. I am so way above that average !! I'm not particularly well off & I don't (or at least I didn't until now) think of myself as particularly consumerist.

I really need to go ponder on this..... Feeling a bit shocked to be honest

[Somerandom Ihear you :) I have far too much despite regular clear outs. However, I think if I buy it from a charity shop, have my fussy out of it then donate it back I have actually helped that charity shop twice. ;)

Thanks Rowan - you're right - if it's being bought from a CS then going back to it eventually then it is a virtuous circle I guess. My shock at the amount of stuff I had motivated me to get rid of even more stuff - around 50 items of clothes, bags and footwear off to the CS - there's a Demelza (Children's Hospice) shop near me & I find it easier to part with stuff if I think of it going to them.

I think I'm going to had to find a de-cluttering thread to post on so I don't bore you lot with my antics !! Does anyone know one I had a search but could find anything suitable?

Ah mavvymoo, that does help to know you went in 5 shops without buying anything. I was starting to think all the charity shops where you are were like Selfridges or something! So it does take a little perseverance.
And to be fair I do probably have a very specific 'style' (some may not call it style)

I agree on the point of not feeling guilty and letting that stop us enjoying our purchases. The thing for me is to buy things that make my heart sing every time, not just things that will 'do' or that just scratch that shopping itch. I used to think I needed a new dress every time I went out. I am learning to be more discerning. It may take some time to kick the habit though! A new dress has worked to give me confidence on many an occasion. And I am definately lacking in confidence right now.

Anyway I have a nice birthday meal (for my mum) planned tomorrow and girlie cinema trip to see Alice through the looking glass, so I will go through my wardrobe and see if I have something pretty to wear.

I started making a dress this week so fingers crossed I get some time to do some more sewing this week.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Go to the old style money saving forum. There are several decluttering threads. I'm on the 'no clutter to be seen 2016' where we are all trying to clear 2016 pieces of clutter from out houses.

    Morning all.
we had a fab day at the wedding yesterday. I wore my jacket and loads of people asked where it was from :D I told everyone it was a Charity shop buy :rotfl: Even had the mother of the bride asking if she could buy it ! So I will be keeping it as its a type you could wear with jeans and it would look good ;)

I agree with Rowan on the no regrets thingy ;) Also Rowan did think of you with the Masai clothes as they are your Colours but they are not you size sadly or I would have sent the whole lot up to you.

But with the whole 'having far too many clothes' debate going on maybe its a good thing.

I am very guilty of still having far to much ! as I am a kondo konvert ;) and have about half the amount I did and I can decide what to wear so quickly now. I would recommend you join the KM thread somerandom and get the strange little book as it really is a life changer or has been for me. Its so much more than a declutter book. I would recommend everyone read it as it works with clutter and also clears your head so you have space to see the bigger picture.

But watch this space as I am going to start listing other items on the bay and watch it reduce again.Plus I do charity shop stuff all the time so with me it is normally 1 item in and 3 out :rotfl:

    Have a lovely day all

    Mav x
