They expect to make life so unbearable that these thousands of people will not stay there.

But they have nowhere else to go,

It's appalling that the French allowed this situation to develop. If something is not done soon to stem the influx of illegal migrants from all over the Middle East, Africa, Pakistan, etc., not only the EU but the European continent will be destroyed economically and culturally, and dragged down to the same level as that 'enjoyed' by the people in the places the illegal migrants come from.

I think Europe has the capacity to absorb a lot of migrants if it allowed it. Potentially 5 million a year just into the big 5 (Germany UK France Italy Spain)

Of course there are social concerns about foreigners the biggest of which is perhaps that they often do not speak English but that is just one generation their kids and descendants will speak English as their primary language.

Maybe it is naive but I would not object to 5 million pa for the big 5 euro nations. Long term the world will likely converge anyway.

I think it would be extremely naive to take in people with a culture that is inimical to ours, and who are hostile to us (unlike indigenous Europeans, for instance). Have you not heard what is happening in Germany and Sweden, for example? Personally, I do not want to see people who think nothing of killing homo sexuals or stoning women to death and/or sexually assaulting them at the very least (and with views that are not going to be changed due to their ideology) invading Europe. As well as this, supporting such people financially, probably throughout their entire lives (many of them speak only their own tongue; few are brain surgeons, etc., contrary to what some people are trying to say), with taxpayers' money, would be pure and simply wrong, given the needs of this country – for example of the National (not international) Health Service, and care of the very elderly of the indigenous population, which is poor.

And for myself, I do not want to see 'the world converge anyway'. I believe in nationhood – and so do people of many nations who realise that they've achieved what they have with great difficulty. Additionally, your 'converged world' wouldn't be possible anyway, given that humans remain tribal, just like any other species. All that would happen in your 'converged world' would be that strong groups would once again emerge, after much strife and the destruction of our civilisation. No, thank you.:cool:

I am certain the world will converge there is no doubt about that
Humans will hopefully be here for millions more years and when the other countries get richer we will stop looking down on their people.


People are tribal in that they only have the capacity to care for a limited number of other people but who is in your tube is not determined by what they look like its usually just a matter of who you take into your tribe. To date thats often been limited by basically people within walking distance but as the world mixes you get small tribes made up of a mix of people.

You may not like that the world is mixing but its envitible. As technology and capital and humans mix how are you going to say no my corner of such and such town is to only be X. Hell its not likely you are a pure bred son of adam your likely a mix of people yourself.
